I wish I hadn't bought this Speedmaster....

...because now all my other watches are getting a complex.

I can't remember the last time I bought a watch that got worn so often, instead of just fitting into the rotation. I even post other watches in the WRUW Today topics with every intention of wearing whatever that day, but so far it seems that somewhere between my resolve and the front door, the Speedy ends up on my wrist.

It's definitely a classic, and modern even after 50 years!

Sounds like a case of SPV*, Al.

Caution: there is no known cure. You'll have to live with it.

Fr. John†

*Speedy Pro Virus

Quote:
"Recent evidence on this forum warrants a reminder regarding SPV. For those of you unfamiliar with SPV (Speedy Pro Virus), the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia has determined that the current contagion propagates from the central US (Chicago) and is spreading world-wide.

Symptoms include large lesions on the wrist; left, right or even both.

CDC studies show that there are three strains of SPV: pre-moon, moon and post-moon. Unwary visitors to Omega watch forums are susceptible to initially contracting only one of the strains. Prolonged exposure to "carriers" on these forums will likely result in a WIS with weakened immunity acquiring two or even all three strains.

The CDC has further determined that a person may suffer from various stages of the disease as determined by the number of lesions present. One lesion is categorized as stage one SPV and increases accordingly through stage three. Any WIS with more than three lesions is diagnosed with stage four SPV. At this point the disease is terminal and without hope of recovery.

Through stage three SPV, intensive care and counseling by mental health specialists and financial consultants has produced minimal results in containing the disease. The most effective treatment has been deprivation of internet access supplemented by a strong willed (nagging) wife.

The National Institute of Health and the Surgeon General may soon require warning labels to be posted on all Omega watch forums."

Yes Al, it's quite obvious why you are perplexed. That is one beautiful Speedmaster, my friend.

However, I do hear your other watches crying softly to themselves!

Tiny but beautiful, Al. That's what happens when I wear my Cartier Tank. It seems so small, but looks really great with a suit.

I love this watch!! Just saw The American with George Clooney last night and just admired his watch the whole time --which I later found out was this one! What's the model number on this baby? May have to pick one up!
