tell me if you all think this is wrong?
I went in the for sale section here on the forum and saw a member (im not going to name names) he was selling a rolex.
i saw his area code was local here in michigan so i gave him a call. we agreed to a price and a set time to meet. so it was snowing out side and there for it was bad driving weather. i left early so i wouldnt be late. i went to the bank and got cash in the amount we agreed on. i arrived at the location and was waiting in the parking lot. i was 3 minutes early so i was in good shape. my phone rings and its the seller. he tells me that he hasnt left his home yet and he got another offer for 300 more from someone out of state i assume. he said if i wont watch it then he cant sell the watch to me. i said to him that we had an agreed amount and im sitting here waiting for nothing so i really dont want to play games when i thought this was a done deal. he said he was sorry then and hung up the phone. now i can understand if he got an offer of more money. but to wait and tell someone till they are sitting waiting for you is rude i think. so i left the parking lot went back to the bank and deposited the money back and went home.. it was a complete waste of time. maybe im wrong? |

Definitely wrong on sellers part. If you agree on a deal, then your word is your word.

You are not wrong. If he agreed to the selling price and agreed to meet you, then he is wrong for not doing so. I wouldn't deal with someone like that.

A deal is a deal.....
I can't think of why he didn't pull it off- unless he just wanted more bucks. You have the right to be ticked. And yeah, I'd leave a message... Good luck on your future purchases.

I agree, bad move on sellers part. a deal is a deal, once you agree. Maybe it was meant to be. Things usually work out for the best.

That is not how we do business over here.
IMO so is a word a word in business, I was victim of the same once but I told the seller to put the watch where the sun didn't shine. I hope he sleep well with those extra bills when he have drag his name in the dirt.

I would ask for a ruling. TRF rules state that once a price is agreed upon it must be honored.
The price can be lowered but not raised. Post the sellers name in the "BUYERS SELLERS" section...

I think it's inappropriate, in that you and he had agreed on a deal. Kind of a crappy way to do business, IMO.

You acted more than appropriately here, arrived early with funds ready etc...
He sounds like a schlep. I despair at the lack of respect we have for our fellow man nowadays. Onwards and upwards good sir! |

Wrong, on the part of the seller. Chalk it up as to 'not meaning to be' and go get the on that was meant for you.

If he treats other people like that, imagine how he treats his watches. You are lucky that you didn't buy it.

I think it would be fair to mention this user in the watch out section. The goods may be genuine, but the seller is a phony....

It didn't happen without a name!
Whether you believe it to be the right thing to do or not, TRF does have standards, and these standards should be adhered to by all members. A deal is a deal. If you keep your side of the deal and go to all the trouble that you have done and then the seller decides he wants to try and gain additional $, he is in the wrong and should be named. |

I would be pissed if he done it to me. What's greedy seller! He should not wear a rolex instead of timex. Please report so members stay away from him in the future.
