Microadjust vs link removal

New member here, I received a "new old stock" Oyster Perpetual 14233 from an AD recently, not the most popular model around here but I love it.

My wrist is about 7 1/4 inches and I am currently wearing it on the third to shortest microadjust and I notice under the clasp the gold is already scratched. I wear my watch tight and I want to move the microadjust one more notch tighter but I don't want to scratch it any more. Would you recommend taking out a link or just live with the (inevitable) scratching and tighten it with the micro? Also what do folks with the same situation do?

Personally, I feel that you should have as many links in the watch as you can comfortably wear..

Also, I feel that you should use the micro hole that puts as much of the bracelet inside the clasp as possible because it is structurally (lateral load) stronger...

In the end though, it's your watch so wear and adjust it the way that you want..........

I took mine to an AD (Tourneau), they charged $10 to do the adjustment.

Not sure if this is helpful, but if a screw is loose enough to remove & you can straighten out the bracelet, its easier to get at the microadjust pins inside the clasp.

I take out links and try to wear the pin in the last hole, if possible, b/c any linkage inside the clasp will wear on the sides from rubbing against the clasp. Having said that, the best i'm ever able to do is pin in 3rd hole.

Btw if you have to take out an uneven number of links, i understand that Rolex recommends leaving more links on the 12 o'clock side so the dial is closer to your face.

Sorry..disregard my last post. I misread the question.

If the choice is between a hidden bracelet link getting scratched up vs. the watch fitting uncomfortably, I'd pick the former.
