How many of you protect your clasp when deskdiving?

Just wondering how common is the practice of putting a soft cloth on the desk is, to protect your clasp??? I wear my watches on my right hand. And I use the mouse with my right hand so the clasp gets scratched ....

WTH? It is a professional tool instrument! I wear mine 24/7 without blinking. While I don't go out of my way to abuse it I certainly don't fret about scratches, nicks or dings!

Enjoy the watch and stop worrying about it! :-)

I don't' Deskdiving marks are "features" of each individual watch.

If you get a mouse pad with a built in wrist rest, your watch shouldn't contact the desk. The soft cloth setup seems kind of embarassing.

Really can't believe anyone would contemplate protecting a bracelet whilst sat at a desk!

Just wear and enjoy!

I don't know how common it is, but there are some older threads on topic. Several members have posted their ideas for minimizing deskdiving wear and tear on clasps, esp. clasps with PCLs. Don't recall the thread titles, but they are out there. On my brushed bracelets, I do nothing, but on my huge, soft 18k portion of my Sub-c clasp, I put a strip of transparent, glossy scotch tape. It prevents all the little scratches from deskdiving etc. and you cannot see the tape. It stays on for a very long time before I need to change it out. A few other members have commented that they do this as well, with the same result.

Its an expensive watch but can be bought. I would not worry about the scratches on the bracelet. More worry about hitting it on doors, refrigerators ect... In your case, wear long sleeve shirt.

I don't wear any watch while desk-diving, so no need to protect the clasp. If I had to wear a watch while desk-diving (which in my case means typing ... a lot), I'd get a rubber strap or NATO to make the watch as light as possible.

I have found that if I only protect the clasp, then it leaves the rest of the watch even more vulnerable. I never leave the house with my Sea Dweller unless I put this protective cover on it. After five months, it still looks BNIB!

Is that a Rolex product? is that optional, my AD didn't offer me one of those. It must be at least worth have as much as the watch considering how much potential damage it prevents the watch from getting.

Little dings, scratches and so forth all though regrettable can be polished out during the next service.

If you are so afraid to use the watch, why even buy one in the first place?
