Tool watch with suit? yay or nay

A GMT or a Sub with a suit is a great look. Been waeing my GMT with a suit for years ( and with a Tux on many occasions ).

I'm sure the fashionistas would consider mixing a sports watch with a suit a fashion faux pas. But you gotta admit - the previous pic looks hot. As for me - wearing a suit is one of the few times I like the PCL on the GMT. Kind of makes that transition between sporty and dressy for me.

I have often said that I find it a bit humorous that this question comes up as often as it does. My view is that if I want to wear a watch that likely cost at least 4-5 times as much as the suit I am putting on that it my choice. Of course that assumes that most of us "average" folks think a $1,000 suit is just fine. If you shop on Saville Row then you probably have a different viewpoint.

If we are discussing a suit....not a navy or black blazer w/ gray pants etc.
then, IMHO, a "dress" watch should be worn....any datejust, day-date, regular or II is a dress watch...whether on bracelet or strap.
P.S. brown watch strap: brown belt & shoes, black strap: black belt & shoes, please.
In fact for a daytime "dress" watch a datejust is perfect to me, more so than a Cellini type watch (for me those are evening wear, formal tux watches)
The only tool watch I wear w/ a suit is my explorer......I don't wear "sport" watches w/ markers on bezel w/ a suit.

But then again, I am 59 & old school......I see young guys wearing giant "sport" watches w/ suits.
Not for me, not my look/style.

I agree with the Good Dr. If you can afford a Rolex sports model - you can also afford a dress watch. It doesn't have to be a Patek - many beautiful dress watches for under $1,000.

Well my suits range.. in price.. some of it... is up there.. but those are only a few.

But to me it's not about the price of the suit or the watch, but more the overall look.

James Bond is an exception and we should all know this by now :) LOL

On the rare occasion that I wear a suit or a tux, I usually choose to wear my Datejust, but I have worn both my Submariners and my Sea Dweller (16600) and they look great to me. A good rule of thumb...if the style of dress is appropriate, then wear what you like and don't worry about what other people think.

Yes, I wear my 16610 with a suit, one of these days I'm going to do it with a james bond nato strap.

However I do really like the look of a sleek dress watch that tucks under a suit cuff. Every man deserves an everyday tool watch AND a special occasion dress watch, that's what I say.

The Panerai is the small one, 40mm fits under ls dress shirt & suit cuff.
The YG DJ & Omega I also wear w/ a black tux.
I'll leave the sport watches w/ suits/tuxs to the celebs, their taste is in their mouths
