It seems to be a Maltese oil rig logo.

Wrong again Prez perhaps before you post you should get the facts first. The watch was purchased from a AD in Valletta Malta, and the company logo is Intairdrill Libya.Watch given for best performance on one of there oil rigs in 1979.

I have always heard rolex did not private label watches but I have seen two so far, dominoes pizza and now a oil company. Or is this done on a aftermarket basis?

Well myself have seen a few like D-pizza and Coco-Cola they were real, but never seen that oil rig one before. But in the early years of Rolex only about one in every five watches leaving the factory had the Rolex name. The rest were left blank for the various retailers to put there shop logo etc on dial.Later in the 70s 80s up to early 90s various middle east Sultans, Cartier,Asprey,The Goldsmiths Company,to name a few believe Tiffany was the last to bare a Rolex twin name, and now only one thats Comex

I would like to see a coco-cola watch. I kinda of like them in a sort of tacky way. Would the airking coke cost a bunch?

Oil Field and rollies :)
Oilfield svc company Schlumberger gives out SS Subs as end of year bonuses........ my local watch maker buys SEVERAL of these from SLB employees who'd rather have $2500 instead of a brand-spakin new SS Sub date :)
He resells them for MUCH more ;) There are a few Oil Rig Contractors that give out gold date-justs as mile-stone ann dates....... but this practice is going away. No-way my employer would give me one :)... I had to buy mine :) |

I have this RIG oil company logo rolex 15000 too, it's sure a gift to the top performer of her company staff of the year.
The well-known and typical example is Domino Pizza, but some of the oil companies in Middle-east asia have their presentation watches to their staff too. (e.g Banoco logo, WINN-DIXON, Pool Oil company....etc) cheers |

Mentioning oil rigs reminds me, I used to box with a guy a long time ago, anyway a few years later I was in an airport departure lounge waiting for the plane when I saw my mate who I had boxed with. He informed me that he had been working on exploration rigs etc and he was flying back home. I then noticed that he had a Submariner on and I mentioned it to him and showed him mine, he told me that a diver from one of the rigs gave it to him a while back, he said that a couple of the blokes had been given them. When I looked, it was a Comex Sub!!! It was in a well used condition, but never the less what a watch to be given!
