rolex emblem etching on crystal?
I was recently at my local rolex AD, and was trying on the Daytona. We got talking about the rolex emblem etched at the 6 o clock position on the crystal.
He was stating that there is NOT always a etching on the crystal and its a random occurrence. I've also been told to always look for this as one of the counterfit checks. anyone care to shed some light for me. thanks! |

Goes to show that you can't always listen to your AD.

Welcome to TRF!
Hmm...As one of our Mods, Padi likes to say, "Many ADs talk out of where the sun don't shine" Seriously...the emblem is on all modern Rolexes, with the possible exception of the Milgauss GV - although one of my TRF brethren / sistren can check me on that. |

My post was not meant to be a dig at the AD per se...but Padi's oft-used saying came to mind. |

Interesting, because while i was there the ss daytona had the etching on the 6 o clock position while the everose version did not. This was done viewing through a 10x scope.

the coronet is there. For daytona it may not be exactly at 6 though. My daytona had it at 11. typical with watches without cyclop

You need a loupe to see it. Hard to see with the naked eye.
Here is a picture where it is. |

it wasn't intended to be obvious, but it is very easy to see with the right circumstances. lighting / loupe / angle.
similar to the Cartier "V" (VII) at 7 oclock, it has the microprint on the thin leg of the "V" |

I appreciate the LEC spotting technique posted by ArcticMoose. After 3 unsuccessful days of trying on my new Datejust, this worked like a charm! My crown is just where it should be, at the 6 o'clock position.
