i need a volunteer.....

I am typing this one-fingered on my left hand, so it will probably take me a month to finish, but.... I need a volunteer champion to stick up for me and defend my honor from Jocke's VISCIOUS, un warrented, and mostly - NON FUNNY attacks! Now normally, i can take care of myself.... But my typing skills will be severely diminished for a while. At about 2AM this morning, i had emergency surgery to re-attach a finger..... Sigh......

See, i am a middle-aged man that still clings to the delusion that I am young.... and athletic. I still play team sports, hockey and softball even though i should have given those things up years ago. Anway, last night, in my softball game, (i play second base), a very hard line drive was hit right at me. no problem, i lower my glove and free hand to catch it.... well, SOMETHING (still can't figure it out ) went terribly wrong; the ball it me square on the extended middle finger of my right hand. i dropped it, but (this is important ) picked up the ball with my glove and stepped on the base to make the final out of the inning I thought, i had just jammed my finger, started running off the field and looked down at it.

the finger was 90 degrees in the wrong direction, the bone was 90 degrees in the other direction, (fully visable), and the tip was hanging on from some tendons. And, oh by the way, blood ws squirting out like a fire hose. I thought: "Gee, that's peculiar?"

Thank GOD there is a DR on my team. He had his kit in the car, pushed the bone and everything else back in, and stopped the bleeding as much as possible. S00000000000........

Surgery was succesful, i should be fine, BUT, I can't type! (very well ). Will anyone volunteer to stick up for me against Jocke's viscious attacks?

Wow Paul that is a pretty serious injury from softball. I really hope you heal up quickly. I fear Jocke is going to unleash on you like there is no tomorrow now that you are completely defenseless. Kind of like a fawn in the middle of bear country. In all seriousness get better buddy.

I'm not quite sure how I can help you, but I will on something so you will be the first to hear about it.

I've always thought Jock is a nice man who built rooms to people he never met. But I can be wrong.

Speedy recovery my friend but a broken finger is not enough to leave you alone.

I guess Paul will never give me the finger again.

Maybe I will call him Paul Bobbit then.

ONLY YOU, and I mean it in the nicest of ways.

In Jr. High, I was running outta the gym with a pair of gym shorts in my hand and the door slammed shut...on the shorts!

My left ring finger was the only finger that caught on the shorts and it went sideways, sorta like yours, but with no blood.

It's still crooked.

Hope you heal fastly, Pauly.

Craigy

(I'm staying outta between you and Jocke, because I respect yunz both. )

Sorry Paul but as a guy that works in a shop, I'm used to peeps amputating body parts.

But ... Softball? Sorry laughed the whole thread thru.

Maybe it's your name. We're all still giving another Paul S*** for trying to grind his index finger off about 2 months ago. He was back at work the next day, he finally got his cast (yes cast) off 2 weeks ago.

Where's your Rolex? I believe it's safe to play softball with it on, maybe some should start a "Can I play softball and if I get a compound fracture fielding a grounder, do you think I'll scratch my watch?" thread to ask.

Heal quick, THE TEAM NEEDS YOU!!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, right now it hurts like.... !!!! But I'll live. And I know, leave it to me to have a freak accident and almost lose a finger playing softball!!!!

Only me... These things only happen to me.....

And Jocke! Just you wait!!!! I'll be back to my old self soon and I'll get you! You... You SWEDE you!!!!

You know, if I did lose the finger I was going to put it in a jar and ship it to Jocke :)

Oh... my... gosh... I'm going to throw up....

What's the outcome expected to be, Paul? Will you regain use of your finger, or is that not known yet?

My husband crushed his right hand in an accident at a steel factory when he was in college working a summer job. Today, three of his fingers are just for decoration... your post brings that all back into focus!

You have our utmost sympathy and wishes for a good outcome. So sorry this happened.

I'd love to help you with Jocke but I know when I'm outmatched so will have to pass on this one. Maybe that lady your stalking from DYI Network will help.

Wishing you a speedy 100% recovery.
