Breitling Resale Value
What is the resale value for Breitling (granted I can maintain it in pristine condition)? Brand Superocean. What's a rough estimate? (e.g. 70% the original value)

I'd guess closer to 40 - 50% depending on the model. I just bought a Longitude with a yellow dial with black totalizers that still commands a premium for its desirability, and if you look around, it's going for between more to much more than half its original retail price. A few are actually much higher, though I don't think the sellers are being reasonable. Look at the prices of used Breitlings and compare them to original retail, and you'll get a general idea, but again, some models have a greater following and demand.

I recently picked up a Steelfish at about 23% off retail. Therefore, I agree that the resale will be much lower. At that point (low 2000s), many would opt for new rather than preowned, imo.

If you look at full retail, awful. However, Breitlings can often be had at massive discounts. If you buy pre-owned, you probably wont do too badly.

If you're looking at the new SO Abyss, they're currently selling for ~$2000 in new/like new condition. Keep that in mind when determining your purchase price.

You're probably looking at about 55% of retail as far as resale is for most Breitlings. Discounts on Breitlings are being cut back since the dealer cost is going up in the end of August.

Like has been said on here if you buy full retail resale is a killer
But buy well with good discount and its not that bad I bought a Breitling Crosswind 7 years ago at 37% discount from AD can get more than I paid for it now, its just if you can wait long enough for new prices to rise and second hand follow (slower on Breilting/Omega than Rolex but do get there) Cheers |

Poor on the whole.
If certain limited edition models, better resale value. |

Im thinking of buying a new, gray market super avenger 2 in blue with a steel bracelet for around $4201. How much on average will I lose if I buy it and then sell after a year or so?

So how much should I be paying for this watch if I wanted it with the box and papers in flawless condition? This is the exact watch I want. Thanks

Resell on a Breitling is 50% of MSRP, at best.

I said MSRP. I believe it is close to $5,400, so half is $2,700. A newer model still under warranty in minty condition should be more. Sellers, of course, want more, but $3K is isn't that far off.

More than just the cost, it will probably take a lot of time. You may end up sitting on a watch for months trying to sell it. Don't assume you can just flip it, even if you lose a ton of $$.

I'd never buy a new Breitling for anything but 25% off from an AD

like most new watches it depends on how long you keep it. Breitling will lose easily 30-40% just walking out the store no matter what discount you got, then again a rolex in the first year can do that too if you dont buy smart. Buy a watch to keep it, the longer its kept the lesser the hit off retail, oh and never buy retail

That one is probably used.
It all depends on your tolerance for loss. The resale will likely be under $3k so you're looking at a $600 loss vs $1000. I'd offer the guy on chrono24 $3200 or $3400 and try to get it for that. Current breitling come with warranty devices they activate online. It's a much different process from Rolex. |
