Is it me or.....Is EBay the home of over polished Rolexes??

Kinda like the "Island of unwanted toys" in that Christmas children's classic, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, it seems that almost every Ebay Rolex I look at has had the hell polished out of it and because it is "shiny" all these Ebay jewelers are presenting them as in "excellent condition".

Many of the lugs I have looked at have been polished down so far that the spring bar holes are being impacted!!

Just an observation the reinforces that old saying; buyer beware!

Well said- There are some scary ones out there.
I think the avg. Rolex buyer out there wants a "new looking" watch and knows nothing about lugs or patina.

Ebay is where sellers sell watches they cannot sell on vintage forums as there are too many flaws and they will be called out easily. 1 even has somebody put thick bevels in the pencil thin lugs and calls them unpolished.....lol And almost all of them are with papers

I completely agree!! Ebay is definitely not the place to source the creme of the crop!! But once in a while, you will encounter a gem like Vijay's Superman Bob 5510!! But very very rarely!!

"Island of Unwanted Toys" haha nice. You're absolutely right, and a lot are comically overpolished. To the point where the kids could use them in Lord of the Flies.
