Advice/guidance needed for daily beater?
Hi all
I have two very old (20 years+) Seiko's, a diver and a dress watch (quartz). Both getting a bit beat-up, never been serviced, needed battery etc. So I sent to Seiko here in Sydney. They have quoted me over AU$300 (that's about US$4689, ha ha) to service them both. I just need one beater, so thinking I'm better off spending approx $300 on a new auto Seiko diver (or similar). Have looked on Ebay, and there appear to be heaps available for between $150-$250. Even one or two Monsters! I assume they're all legit, or are cheap Seiko's faked as well? Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions? Get the old one/s repaired? Buy a new one on Fleabay? Get something other than a Seiko? I'll start having a poke around the FS section here, but not sure there will be much available for my limited budget

John,
AU300.00 is $322.00 so if your Seiko's are near and dear to you I'd get them serviced. If not, you can add a couple new Seiko's. They sure are fun to collect, a great value for the money, and my Seiko collection is already into double digits. dP

I'd get the old ones repaired. Old watches are like old friends, comforting to have around.

Thanks Dan and Mark
Yes, there is a little sentimental value, so I just sent them the go-ahead! I might post some pics when they get back here, and hope no-one is too offended by such lowly timepieces, ha ha Appreciate the replies.
