Jubilee Bracelet repair?
I know there is a guy, or place that will repair a badly stretched jubilee.
This is their father's datejust and it was left to him when his father passed. For sentiment, he wants the origional bracelet repaired, and not a replacement. Please point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance. Patrick

Classic Watch Parts
I know these guys are recommending Micheal Young at Classic Watch repair, but I would not. I sent my TT Datejust to them in Feb. for new crystal, service, polish and a band rebuild. Just got it back 3 weeks ago. The watch looked good until you looked closely. The back case gasket was wrong and protruding out half way around the case. He charged me to relume the dial, which I did not want, but the dial was not relumed. The bezel was new(aftermarket I'm sure), but not charged for. I asked for the case tube and crown to be replaced. That did not happen. The worst part was the band itself. My band was completely worn out when I sent it in, but it came back 6 links short, some of the wrong length gold d-rings on the band and aftermarket links added. Classicwatchparts is sketchy at best and I would avoid them at all cost, especially with any watch that had any real sentimental or monetary value. They are a butcher shop. e-mail me if you would like some more info. Chris

Bracelet Repair
This was my first vintage Rolex restoration and maybe my last. I informed Micheal of the problem with the watch head early last week but have had no reply. As I metioned, the refinish/polish on the case was nice but the watchmaking skills left a lot to be desired. I suggested to Micheal several times over the 4+ months to use an aftermarket TT band if a "donor" band could not be found. I would up with a "frankenband" for more than the cost of aftermarket plus I had to buy 4 extra links. Not to bore you guys with the details. Classic Watch was highly recommended here and on TimeZone but I had a very dissapointing experience. Chris

Wow Chris, that is surprising after having previously heard good reports.
Are you in the process of seeking redress? Iv'e never dealt with the company so I have no idea, maybe I need to have some second thoughts. |

I to am suprised. Though I've never had any watch repair work done, I had great luck with a bracelet repair. Good to here another side though. No such thing as to much information when it comes to spending your money!

Chris,
Let us know if you are able to obtain redress to your satisfaction. I was considering sending my bracelets to them when required and would have sent the watch too if not for your post. Perhaps they are only good for bracelet repair although you had problems with that too. |
