Icon8 Newbie Here

Okay, just got done typing a long "intro" post, but it never posted...odd.

Anyway, a member of GlockTalk.com told me to come over here because I was asking Rolex quetions on a gun board, and, well, he said this place would be much better. Duh! Thanks!!!

I'm in the market for my 1st Rolex and prefer a GMT-Master II, Submariner, or maybe even an Explorer II. I'm currently trying to sell a Heckler & Koch Mark 23 in order to partially fund this purchase. Kinda odd trying to hock a gun for a watch, eh? Usually it's the other way around.

I do have a few nice watches, but nothing too great:
  • Tungsten Carbide Movado Valor
  • Tag Formula One Chronograph
  • Titanium Tissot T-Touch
  • Seikos (3)

Anyway, looks like a great place and I can't wait to learn more. I've done a lot of reading, but haven't found too much info on how to spot fakes. I've been looking at "pre-owned" Rolex sites, and I just feel leary about purchasing a watch from some of those places.

Welcome to TRF Sterling.

You've come to the right place for information. There are a lot of informed members here and it's a friendly site for any questions you might have.

Welcome to TRF Sterling.

I have those three, you cannot go wrong with any of them.

Pre-owned sites are a grab bag of fakes, overprices, and the occasional good deal on a genuine Rolex.

I think very many on TRF would recommend that you bite the bullet (no pun here) for your first purchase and go to an Authorized Dealer for that first one.

Good luck on your search - that's half the fun.

If you are ever out on the West Coast I can definitely get you 10% off with no sales tax on the Explorer II. White or black dial. $4500 out the door. MSRP is $5000. 7% on the other two.

My wife is saying the same thing. We've got a guy at Reeds Jewelers who's a nice guy and we've done business with before. I told him today that I'd buy the LV Sub if he could find one. He's got my number and is supposed to be looking around. We're gonna ship out of state to save a couple hundred bucks. Sadly, he said no discount on any Subs, even TT.

Thanks Vet, but it'll be some time before we're out that way. Gonna be in Punta Cana in September though. Got any hook-ups there?

Welcome Sterling. Check the Ft Bragg area for ADs. Lots of SOF guys wear rollies.
