New Rolex
Please forgive my poor picture but I think that I have found the perfect watch that suits all of my needs.
A little background. My first Rolex was a 5513 that I bought for the enormous sum of $1500 bucks in a pawn shop around 1992. I remember thinking later..."this thing sucks, it doesn't even have a date". So young and dumb. At any rate nearly 20 years later and after trying every Rolex sport model, both modern and vintage, including others..Breitling, Omega, Kobold et. al. I came across an announcement on TRF that Rolex was coming out with the 39mm Explorer...and then the talk about short hands.. I bought one months ago on the second hand market and then needed some dough for unforseen expenses and sold it off. Originally, I thought its older cousin was perfect but I kept getting turned off by the smaller size ( I know...it's classic...but...) I finally thought that I would try it again. I went into a local dealer who gave me a nice deal and 20 minutes later walked out with a G Series Explorer 214270. I can see where the hands look short in pictures but not in person (IMO). The watch is perfect size for me, comfortable, stylish, and three days later has not gained or lost a single second. The Sub (c) has went back into the safe as its for me, is a little too large. Feeling a little inspired and will vow to wear this everyday and in all conditions for a month and report back my findings. I workout pretty frequently and hike our version of the local mountains. I won't attempt a year as one of our other TRF members has attempted because I know I will fail. |

A lot of people dislike it but I think it's better than the previous model. A sports watch needs to be bigger than 36mm. Congrats and wear in great health?
By any chance, are you still in the Army? |
