Strange "Z" punch on 592 end link

Anyone know what this strange looking "Z" means?

Its on the inside of a 592 SEL end link on a 93160 16660 SD bracelet from 1987.

Any input is appreciated.

I've said this before, so please excuse me if you've heard me say this already:

If you're going to allege that someone's watch or watch component is fake, you should substantiate the allegation with some facts. Just saying something's fake without giving a reason for the opinion is not cool.

Thanks Racer X. I fully agree with your comment but I think it was a sarchastic joke (at least that's my interpretation).

Now that we've gotten that out of the way. What is the Z punch about?

No idea personally. This may be a more difficult one to answer since the watch is relatively new in relation to most of the vintage watches discussed here. Have you tried the general Rolex discussion?

Thanks guys. Strange indeed. The 93160 bracelet even has the right clasp code for a 1987 (L) and enough stretch to make me think its original to the watch. I'll try the general discussion forum.

A 1987 SD has solid endlinks? I did not know this.

I have a couple of SEL watches and this looks odd to me. I remember my first, I was so impressed with the fine print in the link......JMHO.

What is the code on your clasp? I have a couple of SD bracelets and can try to do a compare on the code vs. what is stamped on the SEL.

Hello guys, I have the exact same endlink as OP and was also wondering if this is legit or not. My clasp code says 93160 J12. Any thoughts about this?

To reply to my question: I have visited the local Rolex certified watchmaker and he confirmed that these endlinks are period correct
