watch winders
Azguy just posted a thread about watch winders which has gotten me thinking that I need to invest in a watch winder. I'd love to say that my Omega will never come off my wrist but I'm not going to beat up my watch and can't wear a metal band on the ship.
So do you guys have suggestions for a basic get the job done winder.. Thanks, Tim |

sure you need one? they are expensive for that they do,if the date was a pain to set, if the watch stopped or you had a moonphase etc then I would say buy one, just trying to save you some money

Orbita has some deals occasionally. Very nice product. Alternatively Brookstone sells a less expensive and from what I've read, reliable one.
I have an Orbita and switch off my two watches on it. Plus, it does look nice setting bedside.

I guess I should of stated in my thread starter that my watch will sit unused every other month while I am offshore. I do not know if it's good for the watch to sit..die.. then have the time and date -re-set |

I had heard some disturbing things about Wolf winders on another thread so I picked up an Orbita Rotorwind for my new DJ.
The Rotorwind is unique in that it mimics the motion of your wrist to maintain the power reserve. The big plus is that no programming is required so you can change out watches with different winding requirements. It is absolutely silent and runs off of lithium ion batteries with a five year life. Check this out: Orbita Rotorwind Review Unlike the Wolf winders, the Rotorwind mechanism slips out of the case for easy repair/replacement. Fr. John† |

I have the same problem when I go offshore. I get home to 4 'dead' watches. It concerns me too.
