Basically movement wise the same watch, only main difference is size and a depth rateing that man or superman will never use.

If you want a watch that commands presence and gets attention then get the DSSD. You really feel like something substantial is on your wrist when the DSSD is on.

It's funny (well, not ha, ha, funny) about the DSSD. Those who like it REALLY like it and most of those who don't like it REALLY don't like it.
The arguments against the DSSD are, to me, truly laughable. As to the attention getting aspect, it has been my experience that my TT blue Sub got much more attention - which I kind of like since wearing the DSSD. If I had ANY other Rolex and needed to sell it to finance a DSSD, I would. |

IMHO the DSSD rocks! I wear my with jeans and with a suit. It's not too big or too thick. It's the only Rolex I currently own.
Listen to the voice in your head!

Don't do it! That DSSD won't fit under your sleeve when you wear a suit.

not to offend anyone here but I think you wear sport watch with casual cloth and dress watch with a suite... I have both Sub-C and DSSD but I like DSSD more. |

I really wanted the DSSD.....until a friend who's a grey dealer let me wear his for 1 week....now I'm sold on the SubC as my next watch.
I love and appreciate the beauty of the DSSD and the incredible engineering and design that went into the watch, really. However after trying to keep it under my shirt-cuffs for 1 week in a suit, I decided it didn't suit me. I'm not overly large or small - 6ft, 170lbs - but it just didn't work for me. Either one you choose you'll have a great watch - I would try to find one to wear for 1 week as a test run before committing like I did....short of that, if you buy the Big Guy and decide it's not for you it'll be easy to go back to the Sub C. Good luck! |

I wouldn't do it. But hey do what makes you happiest. How long do you think it will be before you flip the DSSD once you get it?

Try it on to see if you like it. I really thought I wanted one, but I knew it's not the watch for me right after I tried it on. I do wear a 44mm Panerai, but still I think that watch is too big & bulky for me. It does look good on many people though. That's why I thought maybe it would work for me as well.

Exactly!!!
Go try it on at an AD before you make any serious decision. Then If you feel it will tickle the fancy a little more, go for it!!

I love the DSSD.....but I sold it because my wrists were 7.5 inches. IMHO, anything less than 7.75+ is pushing the limits. Not because it doesn't 'look' good (it looks fantastic!), because it's lug to lug length is extremely long and the bracelet won't snug up properly. YMMV.

Tough call... Both a re beauties in their own regard. Good luck with your decision! This is the best part of choosing a watch IMO.

IMO there is no other Rolex that offers such a substantial rugged presence than the Deepsea. Any of the 40mm watches feel and look to small to me after owning the DSSD. It is not only the size of the face, but the height makes it so unique and makes an awesome statement. Once it is adjusted and maybe links taken out, it is so comfortable. For me I like that it isn't so blingy and stands on its own with SS.
Now that bold appearance may not be for everyone. It is for me, and is my favorite watch I ever owned. |

You don't need other peoples opinions. :cheers
