I can hear mine as well when I'm really, really quiet. Should I take it back to the AD where I got it?

Sorry, but it actually makes some sense to me. Yes, of course you can hear almost any watch tick, but in higher end newer watches the "tick" is very faint due to the quality of the case, gears and just overall how well made it is. Cheap watches, you CAN hear them tick much more loudly. Thus, there is some logic in this. You will more easily hear a loud ticking with a cheap knock off. She may have implied you ONLY hear ticking in a fake, but I think the intent is that you hear the ticking much more with a fake.

Still was not a good presentation from a so called "professional jeweler".

Not really. I think it depends on how the movement just so happens to resonate with any given case design. Has nothing to do with quality. I will admit that most modern rolex seem to have nice noise insulation, though...

Take the Sinn U1 vs. 16610 for example... The 3135 is a 28800 BPH movement as is the 2824-2 Top Grade in the Sinn. Sinn U1 is one of the toughest watches ever made, especially the fully tegimented model. Not only that but it's rated 700M WR more than the Sub and has a much thicker submarine steel casing.

But place the Sinn U1 on the same dresser and it will rattle its entire wood frame. It's so loud you have to move the watch of the dresser before sleeping otherwise it's like hearing a dripping water faucet all night. You can hear the watch on your wrist if you're quiet, not so with my Sub unless it's pressed against my ear.

Jeeesh....

Fake watches tick. OK glad that solid information is on the table, so all my watches current and past have been fakes.

Incredible.
