Potentially 6 days to go......

After spending weeks on this great forum researching I finally tried on a beautiful Sub no date at an AD in Manchester today....and now I am hooked! I have 6 days to somehow break the news to my wife that I will be buying another Rolex (had an Exp1 but recently sold it). I would love to buy it this weekend. Got a nice 10% discount in the back pocket so at least that will make it "less bad"!! Any ideas for damage limitation??

Dealing with the Mrs. is always tricky. I spend weeks easing her into it on a new purchase. Good luck with that...

That sounds like a high risk strategy Bruce! What if she wants a Patek?? Can anyone recommend somewhere near Manchester that would beat a 10% discount from an AD?

I bought a share in Signet (owners of multiple jewellry brands Inc Ernest jones). Shareholders get a 10% discount Inc Rolex which is pretty unusual. Cost of buying one share is easily recovered through the discount. Great tip

I have alot of buddies who have been divorced over there Harley's because of excessive spending on accessories and customizing. I dont think I have ever heard of someone getting divorced over a Rolex. It not like your blowing money on Hookers and Booze. Just buy it she will get over it. Just tell her the old in ten years I will sell it and make money so its like owning a free watch. Good luck

Hi Archie,

on Day 4

Take her out for dinner, and tell her this,

" I think i spend too much on watches and decide to sell my watch so that i can take you out more often. Do you think it would be a good idea ?"

On day 5

Take her out for dinner again, but this time turn up late for 15 mins ~ 30 mins

after meeting up with her, tell her this

" I am so sorry dear, I think i had to buy a new watch! I am late for most of my appointment today, i really does not wish to see you waiting for me in the cold. you worth more than the watch in my heart. I can change all the watches but there is only one you."

Day 6
Show her the parcel with a box of G O D I V A

Say nothing, when she notices it, tell her you have had it for six months and have been fuming that she doesn't even notice your new watch, where you are supposed to notice every little detail.
She will feel much to guilty to complain.

Rangoon that was very funny!!!
My husband has been showing me a guitar. They are as expensive as Rolexes, or at least what he wants. He has the one he wants at home to try and make sure he wants it. They know he's hooked. That's ok he can get it as I am planning on getting a sub no date. If he started bringing flowers or chocolates I would wonder if something was wrong with him or if he was cheating. (only kidding about the cheating) Might want to think that one out:)

Download some divorce papers from the internet, give them to her, and then say "just kidding, look what I bought today"....hmmm....maybe not

Tell her you bought it because you want to look nice for her. Everything you buy, you buy for your wife's benefit.
