What Are You Wearing Yours For?
Everyone who owns a Rolex has a different reason for wearing one...Tell the truth, why do you wear it?
Not trying to make a survey out of this post or some sort of poll...I just wanna hear your reason for wearing it, which may in fact turn into some sort of poll but everyone has their own unique reason for wearing a Rolex. Post your reply and I'll give you my reason if you want |

+1 and I am fascinated by the design and engineering that goes into a mechanical watch that can achieve the accuracy and durability that every one of my Rolex watches represents. I also appreciate the heritage and subtle elegance that Rolex represents.

I bought my first Rolex because I wanted a "luxury" watch.
Since that time, I've come to appreciate Rolex on many levels. I wear my Rolex watches almost exclusively now because of the simple facts that they make me happy and I'm impressed anew each time I look at my wrist.

Ah, my sentiments, exactly!
The feel of it! Not just on my wrist, but deeper in my soul.

@GradyPhilpott I totally agree Every time I look at either of my DJ IIs and see the lights reflect off the diamond dial or fluted bezel and see that nice bold Rolex under the crown at the XII I just fall in love with it again

I wanted to upgrade from a "Watch" to a "Timepiece". I have always loved the look of the Submariner, and I realized that I was trying to pay homage to the Submariner with my earlier choices of watches. I finally decided to get what I've always wanted. I appreciate the history, elegance, and craftsmanship, as well.

It was a goal of mine at a young age to one day own a Rolex, although at the time, I wasn't really sure if it was even attainable.
I've maintained a few solid jobs over the last 10 years since graduating college and decided I was financially comfortable enough to buy myself one, as a milestone gift of becoming a father. My watch reminds me of my son every time I look at it, whether I'm stressing at work or out drinking with my friends... which is good for me because it reminds me to work hard, and be responsible now that I have a child who depends on me. I plan on passing it on to him someday when he is ready... I guess you can say it's his watch, I'm just borrowing it for the next 20 years ;) |

I agree. I grew up poor and was the first in my family to graduate from college. I told myself that one day I would own a Rolex, and my first was a Thunderbird I purchased back in 1997. My second Rolex was a 40mm SS/Platinum Yachtmaster that I owned from 2003 until a few months ago. I currently own my "grail" watch, a SS Daytona with a black dial.

I wear it because I feel classy when I do. Brand Recognition for me.
I feel proud that I can afford to have something I take pride in on my wrist. That's the honest truth. Sounds shallow but it's good to see the wife w/ a Rolex on too when we go shopping :) In seriousness also, my watch signifies the year my parents came to America and worked their hardest to provide me with a great life I have today. |

And I do love the mechanical aspect of the watch. That just blows me away. But I've bought into the brand and all that it represents in a big way. Now this is not to impress anyone else. In fact, I like to wear my watch very much under the radar and have it go unnoticed. |

I appreciate (and gravitate toward) well made "things", especially mechanical things. It's the same reason I love a custom 1911, a handmade folding knife, the car I drive. I love the look and purpose built nature of a tool watch (Sub Date 16610 for me) that is suitable for any occasion.

I love the way it looks, it is a great representation of my love for quality timepieces, and it's an every day, versatile tool watch as well.

I wear mine for the history, overengineering and the ruggid reliability.
The downside for me is the commonality and stigma that sometimes surrounds the Rolex brand. |

I wear mine because I have them, paid for them and not given to me as "freebies" by family or other folks. Hey OP, referring to one of your threads: We are poor too, our maid can't even afford a Mercedes Benz!

I wear mine because of the lineage and the fact that I like knowing I'm wearing a Rolex. Very few other materialistic things in life have brought me as much pleasure as my Rolex...

It's my little slice of heaven. There are other things that make me feel good too, however this is one that I can always count on no matter what.
It feels good to own and wear something of this quality, craftmanship, and that looks and feels so good when you put it on. It makes me smile.

I wear a Rolex because it is not electronic, everything is electronic now a days. I want one part of my life to be mechanical. Old school. something original.
