What do you do for a living?
Hi all,
I'm a Rolex newbie, soon to get my first Rolex, a ceramic SS GMT II. I was wondering what you all do for a living and if you wear a Rolex, and if so, which one, in your job. I am in outside sales of industrial capital equipment and have been comtemplating the potential reaction, poistive or negative, from my clients to wearing a Rolex. I'm curious about what your experiences and reactions have been from clients, co-workers, and bosses. In many of the threads, I read that some of you don't wear your Rolex at work. Why? Thanks. |

We can`t wear them when dealing with the public but I don`t have to do that so much so I can wear what I like. I really like the new SS GMT, I.M.H.O. I think it`s the nicest watch Rolex have produced in a long time. It has a great look and feel and the clasp and bracelet are a step foreward. So is the new hairspring. I think I prefer it to my SS Daytona!! P.S Best of luck with the job search Obsession, hope it wont be too long before you find what you want. |

I am currently Active Duty Navy X 14 years! Only 5 and some change to go! I am a Hospital Corpsman, which in nutshell, I provide healthcare to Marines and Sailors alike. I don't wear a watch to work. I only wear them on off duty time! Yep, the US Navy! Our pride runs deep!

Interesting. Can you assemble and disassemble all Rolex movements? I have a new Daytona. Is the Daytona movement much morecomplicated than the others?

Hi guys
I'm a lawyer also, i used to practice in Auckland New Zealand, just a block from Mansors. I have just moved to the hot and beautiful Fiji Islands to take up a law partnership. I have worn my rolex to work since day one, i have noticed that ss rollies dont get any attention. Most people think its just another steel watch. Currently i have been wearing my ss daytona everyday. No problems. I have been getting bored and like to turn on the chrono hands to make the watch a bit more exciting and alive, which is one of the coolest things about the daytona. I was at a law conference a few weeks ago, a lawyer beside me had a solid gold datejust/daydate, couldnt tell as the dial was champagne/gold also. Currently I work at a company doing "plain-vanilla" Pension Fund Accounting.
In a week I start a new job doing Hedge-Fund Accounting. You know, stuff like derivative instruments (futures/forwards), fx-contracts, options, swaps, etc etc. Should be interesting, but also a lot of work. Longer hours than what I am doing now. I can't wait to get the heck out of where I am now. |

Andy, all great cars! Old school for sure. I've always liked the mid 80's 528e. We recently bought a '03 E320 benz over the new 5 series. That may have been a mistake as we have had many problems with it. But I'll cry the blues in the Mercedes forum.

I was in Pharmaceutical Sales for 6 years, was downsized, and now I am a Porsche Brand Specialist. Been selling Porsche and Audi since march and love it.
Wear my watches every day to work and they are great conversation peices with my customers. Most of my clients have nice watches it seems. The cars and watches seem to go together. PAtrick

I'm a special investigator for the biggest insurance company in the United States. I deal with all kinds of frauds on different policies such as Boat, Apartment, Businesss, Homeowners, Personal Articles, Renters....Everything except for Auto Policy because that is separate.
My boss doesn't give a rat 's behind about my watch because he has a really nice Breitling watch. My coworkers dont even notice, they just know that I tend to leave my watch around the office sometimes. There are 30 investigators in the state of California, and I'm the youngest one at 27 years old. All of them are around 38-60 years old. Can't really relate with most of them but oh well.... |

HI!
I work for a charity that works with people with a mental health diagnosis. Primarily Schizophrenia or Depression we work with our service users towards a better quality of life for them. I always wear a nice watch to work, mostly a Rolex. All my work colleagues and clients know I am into watches and gently rib me about it from time to time. I have never had a negative reaction to one of my Rolex from anyone. Regards Tim |
