I spent all my money on wine, women, & watches.......for song, ended up w/ my Sony Vaio laptop & an Ipod, a pair of Audioengine self powered desktop speakers, a pair of Grado headphones & Sony earbuds.
Small but powerful......the zen way of music....easily packed when I have to leave in a hurry.

Yeah, I need to sell the Adcom GFA5800 in pursuit of a tubed amp. The gain on the preamp is too high for CD players because the preamp was made before cds were invented so I need to get a different amp with less output gain. And eventually upgrade the turntable....Rolex or Turntable upgrade??? I think a Rolex..

My own system quite old and most of the best HI-FI units used to be British, or British designed.
I have two very old now Mission Cyrus 11 amps, plus two seperate PSX power supplies makeing them into mono amps one for left channel same for right Arcam CD.Now they push now around 200 watts and high current both into my 8 ohm British TTL studio 10 speakers, they are rated at 70w. But I never have to put the volume above 3-4,and thats quite loud. Now if I turned the volume right up ,into distortion then I would expect the high current clip to the speaker to blow or harm the drivers units but a great sound but today get very little use.I used to have both a Pink Triangle Tarantella record deck with a decca LG cartridge that was superb sound. And IMO the LP still has the edge on all digital music its a more warm feeeling sound. My cd player is a Arcam Alpha 8SE,later had new module put in, to upgrade it to Alpha 9 its well past its sell by date, but still a fine sounding player. But not as good as the Pink Triangle record deck, the most important thing with the mission amps, now they have been mono-ed is the high current output, thats what drives the speakers not so much watts. One of the best sounds I have ever heard was 15 watt valve amp, cannot remember the name, linked up to the Pink Triangle and my speakers. But the sound was unbelievable, totally the best sound I have ever heard. Now the sound difference between the transistor, and valve amp well hard to explain, so I will say difference between chalk and a good cheese.

I'm more a headphone guy,
FLAC -> Xonar D2X with Burr-Brown DACs -> Woo Audio WA3 single ended OTL tube amp -> Sennheiser HD650 None of the music I listen to was out in the vinyl era so digital with some tube warmth thrown in suits me well.

Guilty.
I have the Bang & Olufsen Beolab 5 speakers. A Beosound 9000 (just for control) feeding my speakers with my Mac Mini. The speakers are indeed awesome. 2500 watts of active amplification in each. Let's just say, nothing is really too difficult to handle for them. Having amps that are running on "idle" and not close to their maximum output at normal to high sound pressure levels has it's advantages. I have more invested in Audio equipment than in Watches.

I'm have two Crown DC300A power amps and two IC150A Pre-amps, Marantz 115B tuner, a Nakamichi CD Player2 MusicBank CD player, Phillips 900 Series DCC player, a Beogram4004 turntable and the Chorus2 Klipsch speakers. All in all a nice middle of the road sounding stereo system and I agree vinyl analog records definitely have a warmer fuller sound over digital formats. The only digital format that comes close is DAT players as they do record the full analog sound on tape!!!

I have a pair of Audeze LCD 2 headphones (also some B&W P5s) a lot of hi def music on my Mac book pro and will be buying an Audiolab M DAC shortly. Other than that I have a Marantz CD receiver, all the music can be streamed to each room in the house using a NAS in conjunction with a Sonus system the works incredibly well.

Definitely my other hobby. I am just now getting into more of the headphone side of things. I like in ear monitors (IEMs) and just ordered a pair of Shure SE535. For my first real pair of cans, I am going with the Sennheiser HD650 as I heard that's a great performer at that price point. Now I just need a desktop/portable amp that will drive both of them, a line out dock from my iPod, and I should be good to go.
As far as my other stuff: HT room Dynaudio Contour S3.4 main speakers Dynaudio Contour SC center Dynaudio Audience 52SE (surrounds) SVS PC Ultra Sub Integra DTC 9.8 preamp/processor Rotel RMB-1095 power amp Rotel CD player Squeezebox Classic Another hobby that just sucks the money from you.... :)
