Well, you have to get what you like. For me I would never own a Yacht but love the new 42Exp2, in black.

Very odd question. You say you "hated" the explorer. Why the debate? Personally I love the explorer, but I'm not the one spending 8k on it. Again, odd way of putting it. Buy what you like.

Maybe a pre-owned Explorer II in the 40mm case size would fit + be better for you than a YM.

Sounds as though you need some time to think this through, and perhaps try them on again

If you are thinking about a new YM, wait until Baselworld 2012 (March) to see if Rolex upgrade the clasp to the newer style. The current (old) clasp puts me off the YM, so if I had to choose now I would go for the new Exp II

There is no right or wrong answer here including buying both (which I did).

If you hated having the Exp on your wrist because you're not used to wearing a 42mm watch, then forget it and go for the Yachtmaster.

As to whether the YM will be changed any time soon - nobody knows but I doubt it.

Unless of course Rolex introduce a stainless steel YM II, in which case, that will also be 42mm...
