TT black vs TT blue Submariner

I'm seriously contemplating a TT black sub vs a TT blue sub. But before I take the plunge, I would want to know what are your mental profile/social profile/activity profile of someone wearing a TT black sub or a TT blue sub?

I had a TT black sub on my wrist at my AD the other day and its one of the smartest professional looking no nonsense TT I've put on my wrist.

As for the TT blue, IMO is a really cool chill out professional looking TT and attention grabber with its blue dial, can't picture it without a couple of lasses beside it's wearer and a mug of beer on hand to match its TT gold bracelet.

What are your takes? Hopefully ur replies wil spark some inspiration on m y watch choice.

Both watches are beautiful. I think Larry and Al would give you a vote for the TT black. I love the picture of Al wearing his while out on the water in his boat. I think the TT black is a great blend of sports model with sophistication and maturity. Not too much in either direction. Just my opinion from someone who isn't fortunate enough to own one of those right now.

I agree with Bama, both watches are beautiful. IMO, the T/T Blue Sub stands out more because of its very attractive Blue color. You can't go wrong with either of them. Good luck with your decision!

TT's are very popular with the shagger set.
Blue and black are both well received ,
blue however seems slightly favored with the Southern flock
A herder with a healthy flock is very "socially active".

Choose well,

Go for the TT Black and Gold. The Blue is nice as well, but a little more dressy. If you are dressing up all the time, then the Blue would go nice. The TT Black and Gold is more subdued and goes better with sporting IMHO. Hard choice, as both are good to go! But, for me it would be the TT Black and Gold. Came real real close on pulling the trigger, so to speak, and buying one just north of you in KL.

Tough call. Have you even considered the Serti Sub? It's somewhat of an inbetween watch, but, also somewhat of an "over the top" watch, all in one package. While it does have some bling, it doesn't scream at someone across the room like a TT blue. However, when examined closely, the rocks do tend to stick out like a sore thumb.

Like Michael said, the black goes a long way. Subtle, yet commanding. Docile, yet dangerous. Tough call.

To difficult things more, have you considered a TT YM w/ blue dial?

Well...coming from somone who owns a TT Blue Sub...It's a striking combination! Leaves no doubt in anyone's mind about what it is...and the person wearing it. I have noticed recently that some batches of the blues are coming up almost violet in color. I'm more partial to true BLUE!
That being said...a good friend of mine has a TT Black Sub. Also very striking and wear well no matter what you're doing. It is more subtle in it's first impression.

I would have to say that it all depends on how you feel when you wear each watch. It's all about your presonal feelings...in this case...it's about the color. You'd be surprised to know how much psychology is behind the colors we choose and feel best in!

Go with your gut!

My two cents...

Aloha

I too would have to agree with the black TT. I say this because in my case, it was actually the TT Blue Sub that attracted me to Rolex in the first place. I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked----- except when I put in on my wrist Yes, I was shocked, but it wasn't me.

(I did end up getting the TT Blue Sub with 10p diamond gray dial. Same blue bezel but the gray dial tones down the bling to some degree.) But it still has bling enough to turn lots of heads!!!

So, if you haven't tried them on for looks, do so and see what you think.

Also, I have a TT Daytona with Black face and I don't think you can get a better combination than black and gold for both sporty and dressy. The same goes for the TT black sub, I would say.

There is no Rolex more striking in appearance than the Blue TT Sub.Its been eight months now and it still does not fail to amaze. In a dealers display window, its usually placed at centre stage and stands out from the rest."Striking" perhaps the best word to describe it.

The black is a beauty in its own right.

Blue or Black, the TT Sub is one of the signature Rolex models.

You can't go wrong with either one and it really boils down to personal preference. For me, the TT Blue was the easy choice - and for me the quintisenntial Rolex. I wear it everywhere, dressed in a suit and tie, and to ballgames in shorts and golf shirts. The black is more subtle - but after all - once you're going for a TT Rolex, are you really looking to be subtle? Good luck my friend...... you'll do great with either one. For me, it's blue all the way. Best regards.

A lot of responses on this thread have been that the blue TT Sub is the more dressy and also has the more bling factor at the same time. I always thought the TT black Sub was the dressier of the two models probably because I like to think that black is a very traditional color. Like a black suit is dressier than a blue suit for example.

The TT blue Sub definitely has more bling to it and is flashier I agree to that, but I think the the TT Black Sub is the more dressier and more subtle.

My vote: the TT Black Sub.

Big Jeezy I totally agree with what you said. the tt black is a very professional looking watch and very dresssy. whereas the tt blue has got more flash and fun factor. I was planning to be wearing the TT blue with just a T-shirt and 3/4 shorts with sandles. It's the flash of the TT blue that makes me even consider a TT watch.

JJ thanks for the pictures and that'll help me lots with the dilema i'm already in!!

Speaking of Rolex ads, here's the one I'd give my eye teeth for if I could find an original rather than a reproduction. Pretty much covers it for me with those 2 maxi's bashing around and the TT black Sub.:

I own the black. But I love the blue. I still have it in the back of my mind that owning both would be a worthy goal.

As you have all pointed out, they make different statements, give off totally different vibes.

So, instead of continuing to pile up the black-faced SS Subs, SD's, GMT's, and Expy ll's, I say, wait, save, then go for the black AND the Blue... Larry.
