Unpolished...

another example (now sold in a a flash)....of what a proper proper unpolished watch is all about ...just look at the thickness of those lugs... at least 50% more expensive than a more accessible honest and only GOOD example .....

something to drool over

Jed, that is a very nice watch. However, are sure it has not received a light polish early in its life?
Congrats to the new owner.

That dial is sweet

no of course i cant because i haven't owned it from new...... but yeah ..id be pretty happy that it hadn't ....for me its got 50 years of wear with some softening and rounding the edges ....i'm not saying ts never been cleaned or wiped over...but no one has ever taken a stone or pad to that IMHO .....

stare at johns example for 5 mins ...one of the nicest on the planet...but which has had A polish ...

http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...llerII/1_2.jpg

then stare at arthurs....

http://www.fototime.com/FD58447F7DDDA5E/standard.jpg

and look at the width of those lugs ...and the sweep of that original early style wide bezel.......

and just the plumpness of the case ......

now will the new owner remove those soft edges and little dings ...and turn it into johns ....blimey tricky decision ..with dials that crisp and mint i think i would !!

I received an email earlier this morning about that watch and could not stop looking at it for a long time. In the ad the seller states that he looked for 6 years to find one like that. I am not surprised because I looked for one for awhile as well. I was happy to see the price asked and that it sold in such a short amount of time. To me it says that our hobby/passion is strong, that people value examples like this, and that collectors are willing to move quickly before someone else buys it.
Regarding mine, Jed, thanks for the compliments. I feel very fortunate that it has found its way to my wrist. I agree with you and like that fat case and the early style of those wide bevels on Arthur's case as well. I am glad that I didn't have to make the decision to do a light polish or leave it be, which as you pointed out is a tricky decision...mine came all cleaned up from Eric when I purchased it. Whew!

I agree with you Jed though a light polish many years ago would be unnoticed now.

Arthur certainly has high standards in his pieces.

Err Buddies...NOT meant here for qualms or disputes of anything in particular...
but just posted for comparisons...
5512 PCG vs 5512 PCG...

Orchi was unlucky...
to have missed this one just recently...

The 1st time Orchi saw the pics...
the watch almost blew Orchi away...

The next time Orchi was informed of the ASKING price...
Orchi went nuts...nearly severing the relationship with the Seller...
whom Orchi loves very much to begin with...
<$13K...now SOLD to the luckiest Buddy in USA...

Orchi still loves him...

Am I the only one on the forum that doesn't care if a watch is polished? Hell, I see the beauty in most of the well worn vintage examples! The "unpolished" ones are nice, but I would be afraid to wear it....and I wear my watches....Life is short

Err Buddies...watch in like mint conditions does not necessary mean higher cost...
With a little bit more luck...it could even cost less...

Agree, I get just as much joy paying way less for a nice example and wearing than staring and posting my macro shots of a mint piece.

very nice piece. but for 34k, it is in the price range of a 6263 and almost within range of a 6538... I don't know if this one can beat the other 2...

How about this one? Pretty sharp, pronounced bevels, thick even CGs. No service marks in case-back either, BTW. I think it may well be unpolished.
