Will RSC costs also go up?
Well, everyone is constantly talking about the rolex prices going up. But Ive been looking at the RSC service prices, and it seems they are going up really fast too! I may be wrong or understood wrong, as I really dont know much about RSC and their prices... But wasnt it true a service was like $550 just a year ago? And I beleive somewhere around $450 like maybe 5 years ago? Now its $600, and next thing we know it in a couple years it will be like $1000 to service a rolex?
What was the real pattern of price increases if any of you guys remember ? how much did it cost to service lets say 5 years ago, was it really $450 ish or maybe even less?? Also, what do you guys think of it overall? |

Yes, the price of labor goes up nearly every year. Parts of course go up as the watches become more expensive.

could be wrong but i don't think the service charge is increased annually, RSC UK went up around April / May last year & should be ok for at least another 12 / 18 months i'd imagine

Rolex service costs here in the UK have gone up substantially in the last 3 years. Latest cost is over £450 for a Sports Watch.

I was told by my local AD that service costs for AP are close to 4x that of Rolex and minimum wait is 3 months. Rolex service costs atleast still seem to be reasonable. No verification on AP servicing costs, just my AD's comments (maybe it's because he knows I'm considering an AP - any AP wearers out there that can verify?)

Last yr the charge for sports model service was only £364 including a surcharge for the age of the watch, which I though was very reasonable.
Perhaps it’s because I dealt directly with RSC & didn’t use a third party. |

If servicing goes up too high, then I would think the second hand value of Rolex would fall.
A bit like second hand BMW or Mercedes etc, they can be picked up cheaply 10 years old. So if it costs eg $1500 to service a $3000 second hand watch, the watch price would come down as it would be less desirable. Simply supply and demand... demand will drop. Well that's my theory, and I don't think Rolex want the second hand values to come down... so maybe they will take it easy on the service cost rises. |
