New GMT Master II -- QA Issues

I purchased a new GMT Master II (116713) from an AD on 2/6. I'm finding if I don't wear the watch for one day... I put it on the next day and it's having a lot of trouble starting up. I took it to the Beverly Hills Rolex Service Center, who ran some tests and said he was OK, but should I really have to deal with this? Shouldn't a $11K watch just friggin work when I put it on my wrist? To add to my woe with this watch, there's sizeable blemish underneath the clasp... not visible unless you open the clasp, but still... The dealer seems amenable to fix the blemish... but should I be asking for a replacment watch...? I want this thing pristine and too many people have already opened/fussed with it... plus, how do you fix a gold blemish?

First did you fully manually wind your watch around 40 full crown turns clockwise only,if your watch did not enough power reserve it would stop.To keep watch running first it must be fully manually wound then worn for 8-10 hours a day to keep mainsprings power reserve topped.On a full manual wind your watch should run for around 40-48 hours while off wrist before it stops,and a stopped watch should be fully wound before wearing again.Please post a picture of your watch and the blemish, with gold its possible some sort of stain but it should be able to polish it out.

Should I go back to Gearys and ask for a new watch instead of askign them to fix this? I suppose I always have AMEX...

Cape Cod polishing cloth can be used on gold

As already stated, it takes 40 winds to fully power the watch along with 8-10 hrs of daily wear. If you are not going to be able to wear it everyday, or that much, buy a watch winder and set it to 650 TPD and you will not have an issues

The RSC did the 40 winds... but it still has trouble starting up after sitting for a day. Should I really have to smack it on the side to get it to work? And what about that scratch? What would you folks do?

I don't have an answer for your power reserve issue ecept to agree with what hs been said. Wind it and wear it for a few weeks and see how it performs.

As to the scuff on the bracelet. I have just checked my GMT TTc under the clasp lock and mine is unmarked after a few years.
If it bothers you I would polish it lightly with a cotton bud and a touch of brasso then give it a rinse. This works for my small scuffs on the polished gold.

Cannot help here on the power reserve either but I am guessing it it not getting a complete charge (40-50) complete turns of the crown.

As for the scratches on the clasp there is no issue here whatsoever, I would purchase some cape cod cloths...very simple to use and you will polish this little area in a couple of minutes and it will look good as new! Just do not get the cape cods on the brushed parts of the watch as they will become polished too
