The GMT 16700 was produced until around 1999. I wouldn't call it vintage yet, but it could become vintage in the not too distant future. It is one of my favorite GMT models as it was produced in limited quantities during the same time frame as the GMT II 16710.
With its sapphire crystal and quick-set date feature, it is a great watch and hard to find complete with all its original paper, boxes, booklets and accessories. Prices for a complete GMT 16700 seem to sell from $4,500 to $5,000.

I'm sure there are many people who will say the 16700 isn't vintage because it has a sapphire crystal rather than an acrylic one. To me, a watch seems vintage once it's 30+ years old; that's just me though. Regardless, I'm a big fan of 16700's. If you buy one right, I doubt you'll ever see much/any depreciation.

Oxi Spiro IMHO the 16700 is not vintage yet in the terms vintage Rolex collectors use.

FYI....the Rolex GMT 16700 was sold by Rolex with the Pepsi and Black bezel ONLY. S while the coke bezel is another nice change of clothes for your GMT, it is not "correct" for your watch in the strictest sense. I have a 16700 as my daily wearer and it's one of my favorites and one of the lost accurate currently running at +1 sec/day.

If it was a correct and complete service it should not need another one for several years. What you may want to do is see if you can get it regulated (timing adjusted) to its a little closer to spot on. That said, +4 sec/day is within chronometer tolerances and should not be of concern as to the mechanical integerity of the watch. I personally strive to get my watches running ideally at +1 to + 2 sec per day.

hi.i just purchased my gmt 16700 pepsi bezel.jubilee bracelet.3175 movement.Tritum T<25 dial.with box,tag and paper. N series, 1991 but sold in 1993.mint condition.
when case is open i saw there's some engraving at the back of the case which date the year when it sent for service.which keep the value higher. i really like the quickset direct.simply because i everyday change different watch to wear.so it's really easy for me to change the date. i bought mine gmt 16700 for aussie $5500.and thus worth every dollar of it. |

I really like mine. I try and rotate, but, it stays on my wrist the longest.
