Are Brand New, Old-Style Sea Dwellers hard to come by?

I was at my AD yesterday, and while meandering through the display case, I saw a brand new, old style Sea-Dweller. Not a DSSD, the style with no cyclops, 40 MM, etc.

I thought Rolex stopped making those when the DSSD came out? Are they still being produced? Well, if anyone is interested in a brand new one, PM me if you'd like to talk to an AD about it.

Perhaps it's an older model they had in their back store for quite a long time? Otherwise it may be a LNIB model?

Either was it's quite an interesting found! Thank you for sharing the details!

Interesting; they are no longer being produced, so I am sure someone will snatch this up quick if the price is right!

Guys, I am so sorry, Mods if you want to take this down go ahead. I just called, it's already gone. They were very... cagey about the details, my guess is it was for a very special client and mistakenly put in the case.

So sorry....

Say, Paul, are you sure this wasn't just a bad dream?

I know a few ADs have them still around locked up. Many ADs lock up a few discontinued models when they get discontinued to sell at a later date.

There is a shop in my area that has 3 of the old style BNIB 2007 models that have come from customs, but they are getting hard to come by.

I think it was $6400 or $6600 when it went out. I think that still has to be the price if still sold new.

$6400 was the last listed MSRP for this watch, however the AD could always attempt to sell it at the listed MSRP for a DSSD like the one Lion saw.

This not an unusual practice by the way, although they would have a hard time selling it to me at that price.

I found my SD BNIB at an AD August of last year... This was not the only treasure in their case as there was also a black SS Daytona, a 2 line ND sub (which friend bought), and a 36mm Explorer. All BNIB!

This was at an AD in a small town. Manager said these models did not move well as their customer base were not familiar with them, but they couldn't keep TT datejusts and Day-Dates in stock!

I know this sounds like BS, but in a town near by a few weeks later I found an 16610LV and white SS Daytona at another AD!

Yeah I found a 36mm Explorer in a Las Vegas AD of all places a month ago. $6400 is definitely a great price considering the DSSD goes for $10650

if there was one for sale in an AD by me for MSRP I would buy it in a heartbeat, and that is coming from someone who already owns one that is less than a year old ;)
