Incomming!!! 16613 is gone, replaced by...

I am somewhat of a flipper, and have had several 16613's (tt non ceramic subs) come and go- I would stumble onto one, and then someone would be looking for one, and I would sell it. Catch and release, if you will!

I have always been madly in love with the 116718 (gold GMT ceramic), but just dont know if I am at the point where I would actually wear that watch, or just stare at it. I knew that out of my current collection, the 16613 would be on the chopping block if I needed to raise funds for somthing new.

While prusing TRF I found a comparason of the 16613 vs 116613 (Ceramic TT sub), and felt it would be the obvious watch to try next. (Frankly I take issue with that poster for ultimately costing me loot, or at least in my mind he did so by posting such great pics!!!) I was in no rush, however, I did mention to a big reseller (who had just purchased from me) that I might be interested in a 116613- and lone behold, in a matter of moments, my 16613 was traded, a wire was sent, and my ceramic two tone should be here tommorow!

Honestly, I do not know how I will react to the 116613. The blue is off a tad IMO, and the lugs are, well.... large. (I have a 116610, and while the same size, I think the TT wears bigger). On the flip side, the maxi dial, updated clasp and bracelet won me over... well, the REASONABLE money difference won me over... no haggeling, no nonsense, just a quick deal!

Whats the worst that can happen, I dont like it and am forced to go after the 116718 a bit sooner than planned? LOL!

I'll post pics when she arrives!

Sorry--- the numbers are just a heck of alot easier for me to reference and to me avoid confusion--- but I am sure it is greek to some!

It all looks good, except it out grew the bracelet. Everything got bigger except the bracelet. It's of porportion now. Now I suppose they will introduce a bracelet that fits the watch, and the ones we have now will be out of date.

I think the ultimate watch would be a sub with glidelock bracelet, and lugs slightly smaller than the current subC, but bigger than the older sub. Perhaps it is time to take the dremel tool to cut the huge lugs down to size! If people can cut off crown guards, perhaps I should trim down the lugs!!!

Congrats on the TTSUB-C. I think you'll find it to be a vast improvement over the old style Sub. The blue get better the longer you wear it!!!!

I know, I know~! A fellow member with one talked me out of it for the time being... but in a way, the wait is part of the fun! The 116613 should hold me over for a bit!

Congrats, Nathan, but come on, you know you really want the 116718! :-) I really like that 18K GMTIIC as well, but I'm probably in the same boat as you - not to easy to wear around the DC Metro area.

You know the situation very well! One of these days, one of these days! Looks like the sub should be here any moment, but I have to leave for an appointment, and might miss it today... The wait may continue.

Well, its here! I am pleasantly surprised as to how well I like it right off the bat... I will post a comparison in a few days to let you know how I feel it does in replacing the 16613...

Here are some pics for the time being....

HOLY TAPE BATMAN!!!

Packe well--- is that the same packing I sent my 16613 with? Reuse... I LIKE IT!!!

Another deal with Scott at TOP NOTCH WATCHES, in New York. WARNING- When dealing with scott, deals COME EASY AND FAST!!!

The blue looks good! Way different in person... and the Maxi dial is a HUGE improvement IMO...

Yes this watch is used, YES it still has 75% of the stickers still on it! That is my kind of USED!!!

This pick is blurry, but meet Serina the cool cat! She was STARRING at the watch and was looking angry... I think is a purist and was upset to see a newer glide lock on a 16610 sub---- even she knew it wasn't how rolex made it!!! Perhaps she was even more mad that I had dared to put a used LV insert I had lying around on it!

I will do a review in a few days, but will say the huge lugs have almost disappeared and the blue is growing on me fast! The blue seems to stay "brighter" in dim conditions whereas the old one appeared more black. More later!!

Congrats on the 116613, as someone who has owned and appreciated te 16613 on multiple occasions I think you should do a review on the differences.

actually, i used to think the blue on the 116613 was a tad off as well compared to the 16613. but after awhile and many pictures and actually trying one on, i think it's a wonderful shade to be a little different from the 116613. you'll like it for sure!
