Would you make this trade?

Trade this (purchased last year from AD, all boxes/papers):

For this (Serviced within last year by Rolex Dallas w/receipt, no boxes/papers):

Let's assume for the sake of the argument that the dial is near-perfect and the bracelet is good, so it's in very good condition.

Caveats: I love the Datejust, but don't wear it much, I've found that while I like the roman dial it's too dressy for me, so it gets very minimal wrist time. I've been craving a 5513 for quite some time, I had one briefly and loved it but returned it (long story) and have been keeping my eye out for a really nice one since.

Would you do it?

Like I'm going to take advice from "Captain Flipmaster", *how* many Rolexes have you loved and lost in the past 24 months?!

Just kidding. Advice duely noted.

No, actually

NO, actually you should not take advice from me, I am kinda living life like each day is my last, seriously...not because I have been told I only have 6 months to live or anything, just my new way of doing things...

so in many cases, my advice would be bad

Mike, a person with a fresh perspective, I like that!!

To be honest, I would take a DJ over the Daytona as a daily wearer too. Welcome to TRF and please post often!!

I would...

The dial looks very crisp and clean. I miss my old 5513 as well.

Best of luck with whatever choice you make.

Cheers Peter

Hi Micah,

Would I do it? NO!!

Should you do it? Well, you do love the 36 mm sizes as is so strongly evident from your Explorer....why then would you want to give up such a beautiful DJ with such a classic Roman dial? And for what?

That Sub does nothing for me. I wouldn't....but it's entirely up to you.

Since you asked, I spoke up!!

Cheers & good luck in your final decision - JJ

This is a really tough one for me Micah, simply because I know how long you have been looking for a 5513 and also how much you adore that DJ. I mean you actually held off wearing it so it did not get thrashed only to screw up by giving your wife a kiss and bang, needed a new crystal.

I would tell you as your friend to follow your heart on this one. I am so much more a fan of the sport Rolex watches than the dress ones. I know you don't need a date feature, case in point your Exp.

Best of luck and let me know what happens pal.

It's all academic now, he didn't want my stinkin' DJ anyways, he was looking for one with stick markers.

I think I might sell my DJ anyways, and then bank the money and get the next watch that really gets me excited. It's a GORGEOUS watch, but maybe it's just not for me, I rarely wear it. Whaddya think, will i regret selling the DJ? I figure I can always replace it if I want to, I sort of prefer the black dial with stick markers now anyways...

Yes 100% yes get the 5513,I would be happy with the 5513 head only
DJs you can pick up anytime you want, but 5513 are now becoming
quite rare.

You've got a tough choice there, Micah. The DJ is beautiful - but then I'm a sucker for Romans. The ND Sub is not particularly my cup of tea. So for me, I wouldn't do it. But if you can only have (or really want) just one and you don't wear the DJ, I would trade it off for one that you would wear on a regular basis. No point keeping a fine watch around if you're not going to wear it and enjoy it.

Do what your heart tells you. Don't listen to us.

I stayed out of this one last night Micha, but didn't your wife buy you that watch? The DJ is beautiful, but I know what you mean. I'm wearing Tam's DJ now, but it's really too flashy for me. I think I want a 5513.

Welcome to TRF, Larry. Glad you could join us. I hope you will stick around, participate in and enjoy the friendliest forum on the web.

BTW, I wouldn't trade that one either. Beautiful DD.

Hi Larry,

A big welcome to TRF. That solid gold DD OQ looks beautiful...but the last time I saw one was like over 20 years ago when I visited Dubai on a holiday. OQs were popular at the time, more so in the Middle East....can't see anyone investing so much dough in a DD OQ today, however. The SS ones are still in demand though!

Cheers - JJ

TROLL ALERT!!! This larry character is a total bottom-feeder, he owns nothing but fakes and has nothing of value to add to the forum!!! Do not encourage him!

LOLOLOL

All lies... except the part about don't encourage him, that part's damn straight!

The 5513 trade didn't go off, but since I like you I'll do you a favor and trade you my DJ for that OQ daydate, it's sorta ugly and besides they don't even make 'em any more, don't you want to get rid of it?

If that deal falls through with Micah, Larry I would take that off your wrist if you are so insistent upon giving it away.
