Rolex 18000 vs 18038 ?? What is reference "18000" and how does it differ?

Jeremy's asking about these Day-Date references.

I'm not sure what the difference is. I thought at first the 18000 might have a smooth bezel, but the few images I came up with had a typical fluted bezel. I believe both are single-quick set (cal. 3055).
