Hublot $5mm watch

I hear Hublot is showing a $5 million watch at Basel with 1200 diamonds. Any thoughts?

When I hear of watches with diamonds selling at that kind of price, I immediately think, "watch with diamonds" or "diamonds with a watch stuck to them".

They had a $1M Big Bang last year. They are a hipster company and that appeals to their target base. Probably smart marketing by them.

I assume it's a one of a kind model for promotional purposes . . . I wonder if they actually will sell it?

You are so right Thomas. But I'd take it anyway if somebody offered to give me one. It would only be proper.

Just because they say its $5million doesn't mean it's worth that. Nothing really special or unique compared to Rolex's and others that have been blinged out.

Someone with more money than taste may buy it, but probably for less than a million. The value is just not there.

Not a Hublot fan but the engineering is there. Their movements are pretty amazing. They do make some very complicated movements that get good reviews. Too bad most don't have mass appeal to those that can afford them.

Or, maybe just someone with more money than you, period. At certain levels and beyond, value is a relative concept.
