Don't mean to step on any toes, but...
...very often I hear this 'funny' statement from you guys: "The watch looks too dressy to be worn!"
Now this is one statement I can NEVER really understand!! How can a superb watch like a Rolex or any other high-end Swiss watch ever look "too dressy"? I mean, if you love the watch, then just wear the damn thing!! Come on, guys, you've just paid literally thousands of dollars for that watch....it bloody well better look dressy and good. Perhaps, some of us are confusing "dressy" with "sporty"; but the problem with a beautiful Rolex is that some of them can look sporty and dressy at the same time....not trying to blow my own trumpet here....but my TT Blue YM is a bit of BOTH!! I still think Micah should hang on to that SS DJ with Romans....is it dressy? Well yes in an understated kinda way...but most certainly NOT ostentatious! So what's wrong with a watch looking "dressy"? I see no problem with that!! In fact, if someone told me that my watch looked "dressy", I'd shake his hand!! As I said in my thread title, I really don't mean to step on any toes (or corns ), but I've just spoken out what I felt about "dressy" watches. I think they look just GREAT!!

I wear my TT DJ with jeans an a T-shirt all the time. I also like to wear my SD with a suit. For me its something that ppl usually dont notice unless they are looking out for it. I wear my watches for my personal satisfaction.

I think it depends on the situation. To me, there are circumstances where I don't feel comfortable wearing something too flashy. Not out of fear, but "feelings", maybe. For instance, if I was hanging around with people who were less fortunate, I would feel more comfortable wearing something more subdued.
When we move to England, I probably won't go to the local in a small town in Cornwall wearing a tt DJ. Around here in Annapolis, no problem, but this is an affluent area. I understand what you mean JJ, and Roger too. It comes down to individual comfort. |

I completely agree with your comment bruce. I was once in a part of China and after I saw the poverty in that village my DJ stayed in my pocket. It was amazing how different places in the world was.
Also here in Canada where for 6-8 months of the year we can wear long sleeves its not an issue as our wrists are mostly covered, but I can see how in warmer climates it might be better to wear less flashy watches.... |
