I have never looked back on a Rolex sale/trade in. I do wish I still had the 16710 Pepsi GMT II though...

A couple years ago, I had both a GMT II 16710 and a 16610 LV and when the tax man came a-knockin', it was time to let go of the Green Sub. I still stand behind that decision as I prefer the functionality and the flatter profile of the GMT, but I do miss that Green classic Sub. If it wasn't for the fact that prices have gone up on the pre-ceramic Green Sub, I might have been tempted to go back to it., but for now, I more than happy with my classic GMT II. I would say that I see at least 2 or 3 Subs for every GMT...I like being a little more unique.

I've done it TWICE---and in both cases was able to re-purchase my old watch from the person I sold it to!

Lesson learned, believe me. "Measure twice (maybe even thrice) Cut once."

I sold my white SS Daytona last year and bought a GMTIIc. I sold the GMTIIc and bought a YG Sub. Now I want that white Daytona again! Not selling the sub though...

I've been toying with selling my 16700 GMT to buy a DSSD. However, to avoid flip-regret syndrome, I'm probably gonna keep the GMT.

Don't get me started on how many times I've bought and sold the DSSD... Plan on keeping it this time though! :-)

Not yet but i do miss some of the pieces that i sold like the 1500 with Rhodium dial, an old Day-Date that I thought was an old guys type of watch. Now I sorely missed it.

I put my YM plat/ss 40mm up for sale as I don't wear it much and there is a buyer wanting to buy it...the irony is at the moment I can't decide if I should sell it or not!

Had a S/S Sub date, exchanged it for a SD,shortly afterwards I realised that I missed the Sub more than having the SD, so flipped again.

Several years later, I did it again this time flipped the Sub for the new GMT IIC.

Was going to start a "Flipped and regretted it thread" but a quick search revealed...someone already had! I'm a little surprised there aren't more posts though given the TRF members afflicted with "Rolex flipper fever".

Sold my 14060m - NOS!! With lug holes! - recently in order to help fund my wife's future anniversary gift.

Although I was starting to get a little frustrated by the lack of a date function and have since replaced it with another diver, I still can't help but feel a pang of regret whenever I see a 14060m. The dial symmetry, sleekness of the lugs, and a 40mm case diameter in a world of oversized watches are great features that are hard to ignore. I might just have to try and source another 14060m for the collection.

Until then, we'll always have the memories...

Anyone else had a watch they still regret letting go? Did you re-purchase it or were you happy with the upgrade/outcome?

Never flipped a watch that I regretted letting go...when I sell, it's because I know I'm over it and ready to experience something else.

But classic cars...that's a whole other story (and one that keeps me up many, many nights).

Same here, I change my mind so often that I got a notebook just to keep a list of what I think I want and find that after a few weeks I often don't want it any more or another has taken its place. So taking my time has been the key to no regrets.
