SubC-Oyster bracelet getting loose?

I took off my Sub tonight and noticed that the bracelet on the 6:00 side seemed a lot looser than it had previously. I don't mean in terms of how loose I'm wearing it, but the links themselves were very "floppy" (usually, if I had it off and held it by the head, the bracelet would flop around pretty much just at the end links-now, every single link was folding in on itself). It almost felt like a stretched out Jubilee. The watch will be a year old next week. Is it just "getting old" already? It still squeaks, and I always keep it very clean so I'd hope it's not getting stretched, especially being relatively new.

Not in my mind, it is under warranty. Unfortunately the AD I bought it from is no longer one, and I wouldn't trust the local AD to service a Timex.

Maybe it's just finally "breaking in". I see lots of threads about people saying how their bracelet squeaks, but after washing/etc. it stops. It still squeaks like crazy, but maybe it's just giving a bit.

After a year I would expect that there would be enough minor wear that it wouldn't be as tight as when new...

A warranty doesn't cover normal wear, but it doesn't really sound like there is anything wrong..

All righty...there's no way for me to photograph this since it's more of a "feel" thing, but it's definitely not like it was when it was new.

Must be time for a new watch!

Sure, time for a new one!

BTW, I'll recycle your old one at no charge - will even pay the shipping costs.

Just let me know!

I think what the OP is trying to get at is since the subc bracelet links are solid all the way thru, why the "loose" feel so early in it's life? A lot of posts in recent times hinted that stretch was a thing of the past with the updated bands.

I've noticed that some of my new bracelets articulate much easier/smoother than when new. It makes the bracelet feel 'looser' than when new but I've seen no evidence of stretch or wear.

You can check the wear by holding the links mid-way between case and clasp at the edges and moving it laterally. There shouldn't be much slopiness after just one year of (normal) wear.

Ok, the original poster asked me to post pics for him.

I don't see anything wrong.

This one needs to be checked by a urologist...

Perhaps there was some type of coating on the links from the factory that make it stiffer at first. Also, it's possible that they just come extremely tight, and within the first few weeks of wear it loosens slightly. I imagine the new ones are a bit over stiff from the factory, so it's possible, but probably expected.

I guess I should clarify. It's not loose in the classic sense (like if you hold it sideways, it "bends")...it's loose more as in the links are moving more freely than they did in the past. Don't know how else to explain it. Maybe it's just normal.

It's possible it streched some ...

but with that bracelet you can always get a perfect fit. Do you wear it daily?

Sounds like its just breaking in. You say there is no stretch. Rolex doesn't honor wear and tear issues. Enjoy your watch. It's normal.
