Greetings!
My first post on this forum

I've bought this sub from fine reputation person for $4600. Only watches and the box. Actually I've already presented as gift it to my wife and ordered 2 straps

Made some inspection before buying:
- definitely Rolex caliber - the second hand runs smoothly; specific Rolex balance sound; 8 beats per second ticks; all caliber functions working properly
- the body and bracelet seems to be ok and their serials matches, the bezel shows 120 clicks
- the dial and hands seems to be ok

BUT (!!!) - after buying the watches, being at home, I was surprised that I can catch the crystal coronet by my naked eye. And even make a photo (!!!). Just putting my sub under the lamp, finding proper angle and shooting. Please look the last photo.
This is really disturbs me, because I heard this coronet near impossible to find. I can't sleep now

I'd really appreciate any comment from Rolex guru. Thanks in advance!

What is the issue? The coronet is visible in the last pic, are you saying its 'too' visible? .

Yes, its too visible and is "not very difficult to find". This is an issue...

I can't speak for a personal inspection of the watch, but catching the coronet is not impossible. I see it quite often with only my glasses, especially behind the wheel with the sunlight streaming through the windshield.

I took this picture with the aid of an LED flashlight.

The watch looks good to me.

- definitely Rolex caliber - the second hand runs smoothly; specific Rolex balance sound; 8 beats per second ticks.How did you check this did you get the back off,today most watches and most movements today all brands run at 28800BPH which is 8 ticks per second.And with light and the correct angle you should be able to see the LEC, on fake watches its very very easy to see.And most fakes the LEC can be felt on the crystal surface,Rolex uses a laser the LEC is beneath the crystal surface.

Agree with you. 8bps checking is not enough. Earlier, before negotiations, seller opened back cover, verified the movement and made a photo. I didn't get the back off, but, as I believe to seller, the movement photo was enough for me.

The LEC is definitely beneath the crystal. Its obviously not very easy to see but I'm confused a little bit that it is not very difficult to see by naked eye.

May be someone, who has experience with different 16610 subs from 2002-2004, would give me a hint.

By the way now I'm feeling much better. Thank you for explanations!

That looks legit to me. On the replicas, as Padi said, the LEC is very prominent. I can't see it on any of your pictures except the last one.

From what I can tell, your crystal, insert, bezel dial, hands and crown look genuine to me :)

well,my sub f doesn't have that coronet,and i know it is real,i thought the later year model have coronet like my 116233

I believe it depends on period when the watch was produced. I suppose the early F subs had not the coronet.

crown guards look good, bezel insert and pearl looks gen, caseback teeth look gen, bracelet edges are soft as opposed to not rounded, sel fit is good. all sings point to gen. you should be able to catch the coronet with your naked eye from the right angle.

If you look at the pic again, the LEC is visible because it seems like (although might be wrong) someone shone a light from the 12 oc position.
