Help: Repair/service in Suffolk GMT 16750

Looking for recommendations: My early 80's GMT Plexi quick set has just stopped - can anyone recommend a repairer in Suffolk or surrounding area ? Watch has been reliable for years and before that for the friend I purchased it from. Worried by the price quoted by high street dealer to send to Rolex, and want to keep it original. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Guess you've already been to someone on the highstreet but I took my '58 airking to goldsmiths in Ipswich for a full service specifically retaining the old dial, hands etc and it just went off to Rolex to be overhauled. Was the best 500 quid I've spent - it runs like a charm now.

Hi David, thanks for that - I did indeed visit Goldsmiths in town who quoted £670 for a service and refurb - If that is the price then fair enough.. Even taking into account different brands and values it seemed a lot compared to the cost of servicing and refurbing my Tag Chrono Auto which was £250 a couple of years ago..
