New Member Hello and a few questions...
Hello everyone! I have lurked for a bit and now just received as a pre- wedding present a beautiful 36mm Datejust w Rhodium Roman dial and Super jubilee bracelet. I have looked at this watch for quite some time and love the fact that it already matches my future wife's, as she has the woman's version that she received as a graduation present from college. Since this was a surprise to me she did all of the pre-planning herself. I know that she this was a GM transaction and my inquisitive nature has me doing some sleuthing to determine authenticity.
The watch was presented to me with: External Rolex Box Internal Green watch box Watch present inside the box with hanging Chronometer Tag All the protective stickers that I believe should be there Some type of microfiber feeling polishing cloth that seems to match the interior color of the box On the inside of the lid there was a Datejust manual only with a Credit card style warranty card pre printed with an overseas jewlers name with a serial number that matches the serial number inside the watch at the 6 o'clock position. There was no credit card "holder" of any kind or any other manuals present I want so much for there to be no ambiguity to the authenticity but the fact remains she made a GM purchase. She even closed an account left to her by her grandfather after he passed to buy this for me as she wanted his gift to be for me and so that he can live on with us. I don't really know what to do and am scared to bring it to an AD as I believe if it has to be sent in that Rolex wont return the watch if it is fake. Even if it is I don't think I would ever have the heart to tell her. What can I do if anything to determine authenticity? I'm really looking forward to my time here and overall I am thrilled to have received such a nice present and look forward to contributing to the community here. Thanks |

Not much can be suggested without pictures of the watch in question!
If it came from an AD, then you have nothing to worry about...

You'll need to have it inspected to insure it... which is another good reason to take it in. |

Welcome to TRF.
Please post a few pics of the watch so we can help. I cannot tell yet if the watch is original, but I can tell you that your future wife really loves you. You should marry her without any hesitation. |

Apologize for the delay! I just can't seem to get any useful pictures with my iPhone that would offer any diagnostic quality unfortunately...Ill keep trying.
As I stated earlier all I can tell so far is that the box was missing the warranty manual and the service manual and the warranty card holder, it does have a warranty card with an overseas jeweler pre-printed on it with a matching serial number on the watch itself. Since I first posted this thread I was able with a flashlight app on my phone to find a laser etched crown at the 6 o'clock position. I'll keep trying and post up some pics when I can. Thanks! |
