Icon12 For Our Dear Member & Friend Mr. Cru Jones - Green Decisions!

Dear TRF family please help me with helping Cru Jones make a decision between acquiring either a Milgauss GV or Green Ceramic Sub with your pictures! My initial thoughts on both is the glide clasp on the 116610 cannot be beat, however, with the CERN reference and overall aesthetics of the GV the "cool" factor reaches a different level that I feel every Rolex collector should own! With that said both can be worn casually or with business attire with no issues! I will start off with a few pics and hope other members will chime in! Let the pictures and reviews roll! Good luck Cru!

It is like in Spinal Tap. Normal Rolexes goes up to 10. The Milgauss GV goes up to 11.

Looks like an old vacuum tube integrated amp you have there. Nice dual Gain controls.

I hate to see Cru have to struggle so much.

I think Cru should just go ahead and get both.

From someone who likes neither orange or green very much............between those 2 straight up I would have to choose the Sub. Do they make the ceramic green sub with a black dial.....that may be the ticket! However, I know Cru has a 164 PAM and a Exp. II white dial. However, the Milgauss would be the natural addition to that collection if you ask me!

Rolex does not make a ceramic Sub LV version with a black dial. However the prior version 16610LV came with a black dial.

No they don't Steve, but you can buy the black and green and switch the dials now you have two unique pieces

Great shots Sam. Hands down the SubC but that is just me. I love the Milgauss except for one thing, the lightening bolt. It is just something I don't like.

Thank you gentlemen for helping me help Cru with this very tough decision! Edit - I see Cru posted a response as I posted mine! Cru in all honesty they are both great references, if the GV is common in Paris I would opt for the Green Ceramic Sub! Either way you cannot go wrong! All the best sir!

Of course Alvin! Well I loved the GV at one point, however, that is a piece my wife confiscated and I the Sub! So much so that I bought another one from David SW yesterday (came in this afternoon) to gift to my younger brother!

Hey, this is a great thread!

Thanks Sam, my friend, for this. I don't know if it makes anything easier, but, all this green watch porn is wonderful to look at.

And thank you all for your posts and pix. This thread came about from an "innocent" PM to Sam asking his thoughts on these two pieces since he so obviously loves them both. I've come to really appreciate and like the GV and I've been lusting after a Hulk for some time, but, sadly, no AD in Paris has had one for MONTHS and so I've not had the privilege of comparing the two. So, I thought I'd reach out and see what someone thinks who gets to handle them both. TRF is a great place!

The GV is pretty common in Paris, and I've come to like the unique and "fun" look that is at the same time classic and classy. A great watch with a superb history, just like the Submariner.

I have a trip to the States this summer and have been in contact with DavidSW, who has been wonderful and a real pro fielding questions, so, we'll see if something will happen....

And, yes, Dan, I think getting both is the only "correct" answer. But, that's just not gonna happen.

not an easy decision. if i remember correctly cru has an expII and a pam. with those he might need something a bit more formal, less sporty. my vote goes for the gv, though i love the lvc.
