YM II Rose Gold/SS is really growing on me
Ive been looking for an all gold watch for a couple weeks now. Just waiting on the right deal. Leaning towards an all gold GMT 2 C.
Recently the TT YM 2 116681 has caught my eye. Both watches can be had for around the same price pre-owned. It seems expensive for a TT but I know the complication drives the price up. I know umtimately i should and will get what i want, but just curious to hear some opinions from my awesome freinds at TRF. Solid gold GMT 2 C TT Yacht-master II Rose Gold/SS or 116613 (blue) and a White dial 116520 Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I think it depends on your lifestyle and ultimate utility of the watches. I have the 116613 Blue and White Daytona combo that you mention and honestly feel that this pairing has all my bases covered. Whether I'm going to the beach, out on the town, or to a formal event, I never have to worry about what watch to wear. They are both extremely versatile and classically designed IMO.
That being said, if you travel quite often or need to know different time zones, the GMT really can't be beat. And for my money, it's the second greatest full-gold sports reference they make behind the RG Daytona. Whatever your choice, you can't go wrong! |

That's a tough one. All the watches you mention are nice in their own right.
For the long run, I'd probably say 116718. It is classic and sporty at the same time. Commands a lot of respect but can still be relatively discrete - for a gold watch that is. The YMII would however be a strong second - if I could live with the bigger diameter that is. Now if it was an all gold YMII that would be my first choice - again if I wasn't against the larger footprint Having said all of this, I think the versatility is greater with the TTs for my lifestyle. At least in my case, I'd save all gold models for special events.

If you really want to stand out, the RG/SS YM-II can't be beat IMHO!

For me it isnt the quantity but the quality (not that SS is less quality than gold)... I have had about 10 Rolex watches at one time and in the end it just seemed like redundancy... This of course is my opinion. I say this because IMO two is not always better than one.
This leads us to the YM II and the GMT, the GMT wins for me too, solid gold vs TT alone... Of course I am a bit biased Good luck and enjoy, it is a great dilemma to have

Thats a stunner Adam! If i could swing the solid gold YM2, it would be a no brainer for me. I also find more value in the solid gold vs 2tone. I was all but set on the 116718 until i saw a guy wearing the 116681 this weekend and it looked sweet in the flesh. Still leaning towards the GMT, but a good deal on YM2 pops-up i may jump on it if in the right mood.

116718 if I were choosing. I'm not really a TT guy, I would want all gold or none at all. I also love my 116710.
