It's service time/cost???

And it's awful GMT started losing 1, then 2, then 11 minutes. The last couple of days, it would just stop, even after a full wind. I know things have gone up, so what should I expect to pay for service today. It's going to Dallas, since I'm in California. The AD is charging me $85 to ship and insure (Devon's). He said it could cost me up to $1000, once everything is said and done. Is this typical or is he 5150?

I think just servicing the movement will cost you at least $800ish (parts not included.) If your GMT is a modern one. I would just send it to Riki in FL. His price will be a lot cheaper. Heck, you live in CA, I'm pretty sure you can find a pretty good watch maker.

ABC Watchworks for one gets greta reviews in L.A. and if it's a 16710 it should be less than $800....someone should "stickie" and updated service price list....

You might call Manny Chamosa to see if he'll take your watch by mail. I work about 3 miles from RSC-Dallas, but much prefer Mr. Chamosa. His prices are pretty fair, and you'll know who is doing the work.

$800 for a basic service isn't the price I had in mind. I thought we were still at $550-ish, before parts. When I hear $1,000 prices, I immediately think that this is from an AD who does no work inhouse. The want to be compensated for the aggravation of dealing with shipping, insuring, etcc. I try not to use this kind of AD.

With great RSC's in both Beverely Hills and San Fran, I'm surprised that you want it shipped to Dallas..

My Dealer doesn't charge anything to ship watches to the Service Center; so that surprises me as well. The base price for a general service is now 650.. If you need non-expendible parts, it could be a bit more..

I should have added-- if your are in CA, there are probably lots of folks who can do first rate work on your watch. If you're near San Francisco, there is an RSC that isn't Rolex owned but is a franchise kind of thing.

I just had my vintage GMT 1675 serviced in March of this year at a RSC. Basic service with no parts was about $750.00

Earlier this year Rolex NYC serviced a 16760 GMT for me.
I dropped it off in person at the NYC RSC.
The service cost was $600 plus return shipping.
I also paid about $125 for a new bezel insert, a tube and a crown.
As I requested, the old insert was returned to me.
I provided a Fed Ex account number for return of the watch and the shipping charge was billed directly to my Fed Ex account.
This 25 year old watch looked like new when it was returned to me.
