I`m I the only one that likes the new air king blue/orange?
I have not heard much talk of that watch. I love the look, its prolly one of those you love or you hate it kind of things. I have never thought of owning a second watch but I love the look of that watch and w/o a date I can just let it run down and set and wear the next time.

Hello Lane!
I, myself love the look of the new Air King. Its definitely very much contemporary and modern looking. I am guessing that it was designed to attract a younger generation of people to wear Rolex. The blue orange Air King would be a perfect watch for someone in their 20s trying the brand for the first time I think.

Well, it is all a matter of personal preference and taste, but I for my part am not fond of any orange colours on watches.

I believe the Air-Kings list at $3800.
I've seen several of the new ones at my AD and really like them. Rolex has beefed up the clasp and the dials look really sharp. This particular model, though, is um, not my favorite. I'd love to get one someday to go with my soon to be Explorer II and Sea-Dweller. That way I'd have a Land, Sea and Air collection with white, black and blue dials for contrast. But unfortunately, at 34mm the watch is just too small for my wrist.

Even with the Air-King name, I still think the definitive Sea Air Land to be along the lines of GMT II, Explorer II and Sub/SD!!!...
Downing, I'd suggest getting a GMT II Pepsi or Coke or Black before they all run out, then you'll have a Trio of classic Rolex tool watches. |

Downing,
Then go for the Pepsi or Coke. They're no longer in production and you'll be in ownership of the classic Trio. I just completed by Trilogy with Sub, GMT II and EXP II and now hunting for another dual colour bezel, namely the Coke as we have the Pepsi now. |

I saw the new Rolex catalog at my AD tonight. The air king (blue/orange) looks really nice.
It was pretty cool to look through the catalog and see all the new watches. I need to win the lottery to continue adding to my collection |

Just curious, what does an Air King do that makes it and Air King? I know what a GMT, Sub, SD, Daytona, Exp, YM, milgauss all do but what does an Air King do? Looks similar to a DJ without the date and a different face. Not a bad looking watch.

As far as I know it is just a name as was Speed-King before. It is or should I say was just an Oyster Perpetual, but non C.O.S.C. tested they then dropped the Oyster Perpetual C.O.S.C. and now they have C.O.S.C. tested the Air-King. |

The lore is that the watch was provided to WWII RAF pilots, maybe in India, maybe not. But I have yet to read anything definitive about this, and I've been looking. This lack of primary source material or even just hard information makes me somewhat suspicious of the AK's reputation. A history like that would be so cool that it seems to me there would be a lot of AK information instead of so little. So as far as I'm concerned, it's main function is to be a mystery.

Love the blue/orange Air King...
Would be perfect if they increased the case size a bit.
