I am currently in the market for a 16613 (or 116613) black bezel and champagne serti dial for my first Rolex. To try and nail down which one I preferred I stopped by my local AD and tried on a 116613. No 16613s in stock.

Anyway, as I was leaving I asked if they sold serti dials there too. The clerk told me that it was not done that way and the watch would need to be sent to Rolex to have the dial inserted IF Rolex allowed it for that model. Because no model in her catalog included a serti dial, she did not think it was possible to do and if it was done then the watch would not be a "real" (not authorized) Rolex.

Is that true? I've seen enough examples of these watches with the champagne serti and love the look.

I've seen the 116613's with diamonds but not the champagne dial

Just so we are on the same page and I'm not using the wrong terminology, here is an example:

116613 (two tone ceramic Subs) only come in black or blue dials. Diamond marker dials are available for both from the factory, but I think if you wanted to swap, Rolex would want the old dial and some cash.

16613 (non-ceramic two tone subs) dials come in a variety of colors including black, blue, silver, and champagne. You also have more options with stones as some of the dials include rubies or sapphires.

Do NOT quote me on this, but I think as long as the dials are genuine Rolex parts AND they would be going into a watch where that dial was an option from the factory, you shouldn't get any headaches from Rolex come service time.

Thanks, guys. That was basically the gis of what I got from the store clerk but she did it in such a bullshit way that it sounded like a story or sales pitch.

So basically, if I want to do the champagne dial, I will need to go 16613 to keep it a genuine Rolex?

Yes, if you can source the dial you want on-line then maybe you can find a watchmaker to swap it out and keep the old one. Otherwise, you can send the watch to RSC and get it swapped out, but they'll keep the old dial....

That TT sub with the Gold dial is HOT

This is nuts!

My AD has had a serti dial TT Sub in his showcase the last several times I've been in.

The time before last the watchmaker and I were discussing that model, because the diamonds on the dial are the only ones I've ever seen on a watch that I'd consider buying. They are spectacular.

During the course of the discussion, I asked about the term serti and whether or not it applied to this model.

So, he pulled out his catalog and while serti is not used in the English description, it is used in the French description right below it.

Whether your dial is authentic or not, I don't know, but your AD is incorrect in her assertion that it is by definition inauthentic.

that photo was taken by rikki the rolex certified watchmaker while in service... i have seen variations on the 16613t serti dial and i think they have been altered so make sure you have all original paperwork if you buy 2ndhand... gl
