What is this mysterious old Rolex? Is it real?

Hey Rolex Gurus,

I stumbled across this watch for sale, no real markings, looks old (1920's) but no idea if it's real or what model it is. Any thoughts? Also would you consider it worth more than $150?

Any help gratefully appreciated. Need to make my mind up by tomorrow so appreciate any feedback.

See if you can look at the mechanism, since it should be signed. It does look like the watches I am chasing now, the pre oyster Rolex.

As far as $150 I would pay that happily if the movement is signed. I would take it home and look at it and wear it from time to time.

Looks like a genuine 'cushion,' circa mid-to-late 1920's to me (ref: The Best of Time/Dowling & Hess). At some point, it appears to have been relumed. I am lost as to its collection value.

Thanks everyone. I'm lost also, as I've never really seen anything of this age before. It does appear to be working, but not sure how well it keeps time.

JohnBoy do you think it's worth more than $200?

If its real ( which I think it is) I would imagine that it would be worth much more than just $200, wouldn't it? Hopefully somebody who knows a lot about pre oyster Rolex will weigh in.

Hey, Trip. Well, I am not sure about its market value. But $200 is not a lot of money for a watch considering all the possibilities presented on this forum. Maybe its worth it - say the cost of a big night out on the town for two, or four tanks of gas, whatever. If its for you to collect, not much risk - I'd say go for it if you like it. If its for resale....thats the unknown....better wait for more input from a member who knows vintage from this era. Good Luck!

If it's gold filled...

It will be a tough sale IMHO.
Worth more than 200 but probably couldn't get more than 650-700. It may take a while for that as well IMHO.
Movement might be worth a few bucks.
