Two special Speedies
The sandstorms in Dubai over the last couple of days have meant that any SLR action outside of the house is a no-no but even with my iPhone camera, my two LE Speedies look so damn good.
I've been wearing these two in rotation this week, and everywhere I go I can see people eye-balling them. I've had a fair few questions about both of these beauties, as well as one offer to buy the Apollo 11 LE (which was politely refused), and it just makes we wonder why Omega doesn't do more white dial Speedies? Nice watches, nice shots, and i agree with you, Omega should produce a white dial version of the classic Speedmaster Pro.
As Kringkily said, glad to see you wearing them too. |

I loved the white-dialed 35th Anniversary Speedy but didn't like Omega blocking the view of the beautiful cal. 1863 movement with the mission patch.
One day I was visiting a retired watchmaker who showed me the 35th dial and hands of the 35th that Omega had shipped shipped him in error. I ended up trading some work for them and began looking for a suitable transplant recipient. Fortunately, I happened upon a badly abused 3572.50, hesalite/sapphire, Speedy Pro and with the help of my watchmaker, I performed the transplant: resulting in this: I also loved this white dialed Speedy: But what, other than its NASA history, is the Speedy Pro known for? One thing: legibility. Unfortunately, in spite of their beauty, white dialed Speedies are not that legible. But then again, they are beautiful! Fr. John† |

Awesome outcome to your project Fr. John. I think I'm too OCD to try something like that myself :).

The white dial would be more legible with silver hands. Borrowed picture from "tinger20" below, or see OP's panda dial watch.

Both are beautiful, but I am on the hunt for the 35th Speedy. I love that watch.

IMO, the best combo for the "Panda" would be black hour, minute, and chronosecond hands with white subdial hands. Fr. John† |

Thanks for the compliments guys, I can't tell you how much I enjoy wearing these two. They've made the other two Speedies somewhat redundant.
Personally, I also find that I'm able to quite quickly, and easily, glance at either of these watches and get the time. My wife though did say that she has trouble with the white dials and hands. Guess I'm lucky :). Perhaps that's some of the charm with these white dial Speedies, they encourage you to take a good long long at them :). Omega really has my interest with these LE Speedies, I don't know what it is. I'm now trying to track down a nice Snoopy Speedie. No luck so far but I'm still hopeful. Copper
