OK, You've worn it for a While....

Now that you've had a chance to wear your new Rolex...Or maybe you've worn one for a few decades; you surely know what you dislike the most....And what you like the most, about your personal time-piece..

Share these two extremes with us....

This is a hard one, but if I had to narrow it down to one "love" point, it would be the clasp of my new GMTIIC.

This is easy; I dislike the wide lugs of the same watch.

Ron, I fell in love with that watch when I tried one on last week. Enjoy it!

One small thing

I wish it could asexually reproduce and sire additional Rolexes. I'm thinking a litter including an Exp-II, a Pepsi, a Daytona, and a DJ.

My current work watch.......
Worst point....the clasp is a bit fiddly to open when you are wearing it.
Best point......just stunning to look at in the sunlight.......bezel perfection !

I'm not super happy with the lume, particularly on the minute hand. It just doesn't hold up as long as it should. I think I'd also like a slightly domed crystal like the Omega Seamaster. Neither of these are really huge problems, though.

I love everything else about it.

I like everything about it, except one strange problem. For some reason underneath my thumb on my wrist, my sub leaves black marks. More often if I sweat. Washing the band lessens the problem, but it is back after a day or two. Since there is no sign of anything wrong with the links, my only guess is that it traps crud (perhaps in the hollow link), which it then redeposits on this one place because my wrist rubs it just right there. That and the occasional red dot on my hand from the crown.

one thing I really love is the contrast between the black dial and the white markers and the symmetry (ND sub)

I used to wear a Seiko 24/7 that would leave black crud on my wrist. It was a combo of sweat, dead skin, soap scum, body oil and who knows what else. Do you shower with the watch? You should get in there with a toothbrush.

I love the way the light plays off the MOP dial. I love the way the diamond markers flicker in low light conditions.

I hate that I'm always worried I'll scratch it.

I love the yellow gold and stainless contrast of my TT YM.

Having had a GMT, I miss being able to see the date quickly...can be too much reflection and shine from the dial on my TT YM.

I love the lack of cyclops on my SD.
I hate the severe lack of lume which is very disapointing considering the amount you pay for these watches.

It can go down to 4000 feet, ok thats great, but no use to me. But I can't bloody see it in the middle of the night in my own bedroom.

I love the dial of my SS white Cos (don't even miss the date function!)

I don't like that I have to unscrew the chrono button to activate the chrono

Occasionally, yes, and then it IS annoying to have to unscrew those button. Actually, I even feel I have to take off the watch to get to unscrew them.

Due to the nature of my work, I sometimes time things.

On the TT Blue Sub, I love the way the dial catches the light and appears to change color based on the angle and intensity of light. I don't like the extreme glare on the cyclops. I have a Tudor Chrono and its cyclops doesn't seem to have the same problem. Also, I strongly dislike the safety catch on the clasp. It feels cheap and fiddly even though the watch is brand new. The newer GMT has a superior latching mechanism.

Have had my datejust only a couple of weeks - like best the beautiful rose gold and steel oyster bracelet and domed bezel. Unfortunately, am disappointed that the concentric dial is SO hard to read, and that I can't see the dial at night.

No, not thinking of doing that. It is overall a very lovely watch. I like the "machine age" deco look of the concentric dial, but in certain conditions it is nearly impossible to tell the time - the hands disappear in the glare.

Do you mean by "switching it out" selling it back to my AD as a used watch and buying a different one (they do sell some used Rolexes)?

What I am thinking about is maybe down the line adding a second watch! You may recall from previous posts, I never was into diamonds, so maybe I could justify a future purchase to my husband. Hey - maybe I need to see if I can pique his interest in another Rolex to add to his Explorer II. Then the door would be open for me!

Lisa you can get the arabic numbers that have lume, maybe you could do a dial change.
On my LV:
Best: Maxi Dial
Worst: Green Bezel when I'm wearing a business suit.

You can? I know the men's concentric dials have them but are lumed numbers available on the 26 mm size? (LOVE those Arabic numbers, by the way...)

Yes, they're wonderful. Why doesn't Rolex offer more Arabic designs in the Datejust? An Arabic dial was my priority, and the concentric dial was the only design I found that had more than the 6 and 9 with Arabic numerals.

Ohhh 26mm sorry I didn't know that, so I can't confirm the situation on that one. You would have to give Rolex a call or maybe someone else will know.

I'm guessing it isn't possible on the ladies' model. Anyone? Maybe I'll have to give in to a larger watch next time, after all. I really do like those luminous dials. Even my dumb cheap Timex had an Indiglo dial, and I used it a lot.
