Thinking about getting this watch tomorrow and need some opinions (Good or Bad)

My local AD just got this watch in and I'm thinking about getting it, but I want some opinions. I was thinking about the Black Daytona but decided against it as I know how bad the bezel will look in no time as an everyday wearer. I also liked the GMTIIC alot also in the stainless version. Generally speaking the only TT model I've ever liked is Bluesy. I would have never considered a TT Black Submariner, until today when I dropped by and this had just arrived and was sitting in the showcase. I have diamonds currently on my Movado watch and have a 3ct ring, so generally the wifey and I both prefer diamonds. Never had really considered it on a Rolex until I saw this one tonight. It really looked amazing to me, but just wanted to see what you guys thought (good or bad) I am in HVAC sales so I don't think I could wear this everyday (or could I?) My boss is helping pay for a portion of the watch as a thank you for having an amazing year

If you think it looks awesome but I shouldn't wear it on sales calls, please share your opinions on that also. I don't wear my 3ct ring on sales calls and just wear a very basic shiny tungsten ring. There is something different about a nice watch than a blinged out ring though. So maybe it wouldn't be to big of a deal as not too many people would recognize the Rollie as much as a fancy ring?

There is a $3,400 retail difference to get the one with the diamonds! Seems like a lot But generally speaking I like to be different and it seems to really be a big difference from looking at the standard version without the diamonds!

This is going to be my first Rolex purchase (of probably many in my life) so I'm trying to make as good of a choice as possible.

I also like the TT Blue Sub but I'm not crazy about the new color of Blue they are using I really prefer the old dark blue color, but on that subject I prefer the adjustable clasp, solid links, ceramic bezel and heavier feel on wrist. So I'm kind of torn on whether to just get an old Bluesy TT used with the old Blue that I prefer or really step it up and get this one

Below are 2 pictures (One with flash and one without)

Well good or bad, let's hear it!

The White Gold Blue Sub with Diamond Markers might really blow you away and make it worth the wait.

I am not a diamond guy myself but I do see why it attracts others.

The diamonds on the Movado -is that a Museum face? On the bezel?

I LOVE the white gold blue Sub but it's out of my range and I don't think I could ever let myself spend 25-35k on a watch (or be able to ever talk the wife into it)

Here's a pic of the Movado. It has diamonds for the hours. The reason I got this watch was it had the Rolex GMT II style bracelet with high polished center links and I also liked the diamonds for the hours. It retailed for $1,200 and I got it when a local jeweler went out of business for $600. Very classy watch with just the right amount of bling for my taste.

Part of me is thinking about getting an 05 or 06 Two Tone Bluesy and still having enough money left over to buy a black stainless Submariner with Date. 2 watches for the price of 1

I really like the older blue style on the Sub. Wonder if Rolex is considering going back to the older blue style over the coming years? Or am I the only one that dosen't like the new blue?

Seems 2005 or 2006 and after are the Gold Through Clasp and no Holes in case all the way up till 08 or 09 then they started with the Newer Blue

I think your heart is set on the old style bluesy, a beautiful reference btw, so you should search for one in very good condition. They come up on the for sale section now and then. There are old bluesy models that come with diamond markers as well. And, as you said, you can buy a used Sub with the left over money and use it for a daily wearer.

Happy hunting!

Yup! You can pick up a predecessor model mint condition TT bluesy Sub for about $7k--beats the hell out of paying $13,400 for a new ceramic bezel one.

You are absolutely correct about the old TT blue submariner being nicer than the new Ceramic one. I think the new Smurf blue ruins the watch. So I bought a mint condition M Serial two-tone Sub made in 2008 from OCRolexguy and I love it! So much less expensive than the new one and so much better looking.

Do that and you might have enough money to buy another Rolex like a GMT Master II!

Do that. You can wear the SS while working as it is a proper tool watch. Wear the TT while doing other things. Leave the 3 carat ring in the drawer; a TT Rolex Sub and a Tungsten ring is enough pizazz.

Sad as it may be I think that Fleming wrote James Bond as the quintessential understated alpha male. Would he wear that watch? Probably not. Please don't get me wrong I think everyone should choose what they like, for me, it's too much. Less is more.

Please don't take offense, but to me it makes that watch look like a $20 cheap knock off.

I'm a fan of diamond markers on watches but to be honest this isn't my favorite model with such an addition, I would prefer to see them on a Datejust, a Day-Date or a Daytona. Having said that, you seem to be a fan of precious stones and if you like it I can only recommend you to go for it and be very happy (that is, unless you want money to buy two watches, in that case perhaps the money you save on this one could make you buy another watch more easily...).

As for wearing it at your job, I believe 95% of the people out there (if not 99%) wouldn't recognize your watch even if it was a Day-Date with a meteorite dial. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of wearing your watch at work then don't do it but otherwise I don't see why you should resist!

Saved me alot of typing once again Carl. X2 OP honestly most people dont notice your watch;Im just being realistic. The diamond markers are nice but that also means no blue chromalite lume to stare at in the dark outside of the hands and bezel pearl!!

Skip the diamond dial is my recommendation. It is over the top for your described daily use. Get a ceramic 114060 if you like the Sub or look at something more subtle like a smooth bezel DJII.

Thanks everyone for the opinions so far! Keep them coming! And no hard feeling at all for any of the opinions. I welcome them all!

I think I'm talking myself off the ledge and you guys are helping in my decision.

I've always wanted a TT Bluesy and I could get one of these a few years old before the New Blue color came out and still have enough money left over to get something else very cool!

With some cash in hand, a good watch, a wife, and diamonds - hmmm....maybe invest some/all of it in other ways while its easy money. Kick back and think about the next watch....unless you have some other unpaid debts. Just an opinion, you understand..... Luck in whatever you choose!

If the blue model is what you've always wanted then I'd recommend you to go for it instead. You can find some amazing models on this very forum at great prices and you could save a lot of money in the process!

Not that diamonds don't have a place on a watch but diamonds on a Submariner are a bit like neon on the Lincoln Memorial.

Diamond dial markers look great on a DD and ok on the blue TT sub, but on the black dial Sub, umm, no. Doesn't look right IMO.

Go for the TT Bluesey!

Beautiful watch but without the diamonds IMHO. That is me though if you like it and like diamonds as you mentioned I say get what you like and not what we do
