The trick is to find matching hands.
Extreme!

Perhaps I am missing something. These two links provided are from different sellers. I don't believe that G.B. aka Mr.Minto and TimePieceRepublic are the same person.

Any "NOS" Rolex parts from 40 odd years ago should be treated with a degree of doubt IMHO. This dial could be legit but it looks too good to be true.
If it truely is NOS then it's a rare find indeed. I have my doubts also on whether a dial would turn chocolate sitting in its packaging in a draw somewhere. I'm pretty convinced it takes a lot of UV rays to turn these old MK2 dials brown. That is one dial I'd like to see in person before purchasing.

15K .....and no returns accepted.
Same goes for the 6542 bakelite insert. Expensive items that warrant a fair return policy IMO.

One of the minute marks has a small chip where it would fit into a case...

I have not seen a choc dial out of a case before but I'd expect the edge of the dial to still be black - as it wasn't subjected to uv rays. Just a guess though. Anyone seen a legit choc dial out of the case before?

Sorry, but for my 2 cents,
this doesn't look legit to me, not only to me the first tip of the coronet looks a bit out of line, but the whole paint looks odd, I never really seen, but please quote me wrong, turned NOS dials even genuine ones have the exact color tone in all the corners of the date display. Furthermore, it might be genuine, but to me looks refinished, for a price like this You want all angles of the dial, not just one pic. ....but hey, You get a free matching pair of hands if You buy. |

The dial isn't NOS as advertised. It has been mounted before as there are marks on the minute markers. Picture was taken with flash so you cannot tell what the tritium markers look like naturally.

It's a POS fake. Painted brown. The printing looks well dodgy to me. The red SUBMARINER text even goes up at the end over the 'ft'... The hour plots look lame as well. I would not give 15 bucks for it.

While the dial appears genuine based on the photos, the seller needs a reality check on the price. It does not appear new and never used (NOS). From what I have seen in the past, nice red Sub dials vary in price from $3500 to $6000.
