The feel of a platinum watch after a long day
I was at an AD the other day and they had a platinum DD so I asked to try it on. I immediately noticed the weight of the watch (it was beautiful by the way) and started to wonder what it would be like to wear this for an entire day.
What has the experience been like for others? Do I need to start lifting weights in preparation for purchasing this watch :)? |

If it wears too heavy hit the gym!!

I'm sure you get used to it. I think you may really feel it when you're running/jogging... I can feel my Milgauss at that time so I don't wear my Milgauss when I run.

Swapping from an Exp2 16570 to a 116523, I can feel the weight difference immediately. But after awhile, I don't notice the weight anymore. I'm sure you would get used to the weight difference.

You should get used to it rather quickly once it's on your wrist for a short time.

If I've had a different watch on and then wear it, I notice it in a very good way for a few seconds and after that I have no notice of it all except for looking at it( again and again). J

Platinum is approx 1.5 times the weight of gold, depending on what karat the gold is.

Thanks Guys :). Actually it DOES feel different in a BIG way wearing it over on the other side.I guess because I use my right arm more. You guys with the Platinum DDII have my utmost respect. I can't imagine wielding another 10-20 grams around without being in the on deck circle lol. Cheers -Ron

I used to feel the difference between my Pam 72 (steel and TI) and my gold Daytona. Now I don't really notice the difference.

I have a 36mm Plat DD and it wears as comfortably as any other Rolex of mine. If you can wear ROO's or Panerai's or a DSSD, then you'll be fine.

You'll get used to it I think. When I first got a RG DD, I thought it was heavy compared to my previous TT DJ. I got used to it quickly. My RG Daytona is heavier than my old RG DD, but not by a huge amount. I'm already used to it.
I tried on a platinum DD once, and while it was definitely heavy, it wasn't over the top. I'm sure it wouldn't bother me if I was wearing one all the time. |
